He's hoooooome!

After over a year of having a bad engine, Bruiser has finally had the transplant he needed! He's also had his clutch and flywheel replaced, and pretty much new everything.
This made me smile.

I gave him a hug. ...don't judge me pls.
And this made me laugh. (not in a judgmental way fyi)

Congrats on having a healthy car again. 👍

It's quite strange really, knowing that he won't be going through a litre of oil a week (hopefully!) and that we don't have to watch out for smoke anymore. He feels so much better, he pulls well and he even sounds a bit different - in a good way, of course. Him passing the MOT with just a warning about the handbrake (which is something we already knew about anyway) was even better, because that means he's in perfectly good shape. I just want to go everywhere with him now. :p

I'll try and get an on-board video and some pictures of him this weekend depending on the weather.

Glad to hear Bruiser came out of the "Car Hospital" in good shape, I bet he would also like a warm bath this weekend too:cool::mischievous:;)

Thanks guys! He's glad to be out of 'car hospital' and back to his good old self now. :p

After over a year of having a bad engine, Bruiser has finally had the transplant he needed! He's also had his clutch and flywheel replaced, and pretty much new everything. The garage also put him in for an MOT, and he passed on everything apart from the ratchet in the handbrake which is missing a few teeth, so we bought another one from the scrapyard for £15, and the garage said they'd fit it for about £30. Finding out he has nothing else wrong with him (at the moment) is a huge relief, which means we can now focus on buying new wheels, bumpers and lights!

Here's a potato quality photo of him shortly after he came home. I gave him a hug. ...don't judge me pls.

My friend also noticed the reflection of the light at the top-right of his windscreen looks weirdly like the Mitsubishi logo.
Excellent news congrats. Always nice bringing life back into something you love. And with all new parts too!

Today, December 16th 2013, is Bruiser's 10th year of being registered on the road! Or, as I like to call it, his birthday! :sly:

His new engine and other parts are doing fine, he certainly has a lot more power and it's very easy to get carried away with it. He's not burning any oil anymore, although when we first got the engine, he was losing water somehow. Luckily it wasn't a blown head gasket and just a crack in the water bottle which was causing it to leak out, but recently the water hasn't moved, so we'll see how that goes. However, he does now have a knocking sound coming from the suspension and you can feel it in the steering, so me and my dad will have a look at that soon.

In the meantime - happy 10th birthday, Bruiser! :D

It probably sounds weird to some people that I'm saying this, but Happy Birthday, Bruiser.

Have to say, given all the troubles you've had with it over the past year or so, fair play for keeping it on the road - many would just have scrapped the car by now.

All this time you've lived in Huddersfield and I haven't seen Bruiser driving around!

I know he's off the road at the moment but surely I would have seen him once or twice! :nervous:

He's not off the road, he's our daily driver and only car! :sly:

I take it you live in Huddersfield? I live on the west side, out of town, if that helps. I'm surprised you haven't seen him, or at least heard him!

Also, update on the mysterious knocking sound;

Due to our trolley jack breaking a few months ago, we can't jack Bruiser up enough with the normal jack to check out what the problem is. It's most likely a drop link or a ball joint, with the latter being a very awkward job, although it was something I did on work experience in the summer so I at least know how to do it. We might not be able to fix the knocking sound yet, but at least I know what to get my dad for Christmas now. :dopey:

Ah I see, driving round with injuries then? Warrior! :p

Ah right, out toward Marsden/Slaithwaite/Meltham?

Haha, he's a fighter!

Yeah, in that area. I presume you live further into town?

Well in my defence there are a lot of black Mondeo's around :p

Have you seen mine pottering around now and then?

Haha, that's true. Keep an eye out tomorrow! :sly:

What do you drive? One of the two in your avatar?

The Capri on the left. We sold the Cobra a while ago before I got chance to drive it :(

I don't think I've seen the Capri... which is strange, because I'd be sure to notice it! My dad probably has.

It's off the road for the winter but I'll be picking up my new winter car on Tuesday so I'll be driving around in that. A little red VW up.

I've had it for over a week now and I do like it. Nice little run around for the winter. It's a whole world apart from the Capri but at least I have no worries of it rusting. :p

Ahem. I think the term you're looking for there is 'he's'. :p

Is it still Bruiser's birthday ? :p

 I changed the title.

Nothing to report at the moment on the fella. I suppose no news is good news, though. His suspension is still knocking and we're going to get that looked at soon. I'm hoping that this year we can finally start buying some cosmetic stuff for him such as bumpers and wheels, although the Zetec S bumpers we want are still in very high demand are fairly hard to get hold of. As for wheels, I keep changing my mind. Right now I'm liking the idea of some Focus ST wheels in black. They're not too expensive, fairly easy to find and not overplayed on the Mondeo. What do you guys think? Got any other wheel suggestions?

I'm only on my phone right now so I have to keep this post fairly simple. So I'll start by saying your avatar is amazing. :D

As for the wheels, it's difficult for me to picture those wheels on a Mondeo like yours, so I need to find a visual of some sort. Until I can get on my computer to browse for alternatives, have you considered Focus RS wheels? Perhaps SVT Focus wheels would look rather dashing. I'm usually a fan of either BBS-style wheels or nice five-spokes. I dunno, just some suggestions.
