I really didn't expect your Civic to be that light, Perfect Balance. I was thinking more like 2500 to 2700 range, like Keef's EM1. Just makes me like that generation and hatch even more. Funny thing is, that 2195 pounds for my car is with power windows, locks, steering, ABS, AC and so on. Only thing I don't have is cruise control or leather. I'm sure I can pull things out, like the spare, random bits and pieces of meaningless plastic, and so on and shave some weight.

The one thing that always gets me is how small the read discs are on the Si Civics. Since my car is MR, the rotors are all the same size, all around. In comparison, the Civic's seem minuscule in comparison.

2028 lbs for my car :D

Nice read Keef 👍 Do you have any more pictures to furnish the thread with? Like some more with the Enkeis on, or any of the interior?

The EM1 was the fully equipped model of the 96-00 range, actually weighing in heavier than the4 door. All the hatches were under 2400lbs, mainly because they had no sunroofs and no electric windows... oh, and no a/c, unless it was added as an option.

Ah yes, I forgot about the sunroof. I guess I'm so jaded by this car's relative luxury.

I actually was carrying a sunroof assembly the other day from an early-nineties Integra and it weighed a good bit--probably over 25 pounds. And it inches up the center of gravity ever so slightly.

I never really bothered to take many more pictures of the outside. I've got a thing for macros. I can show you a closeup of PasswordJDM's filter element if you want...

4000+lbs for me......
That's because you got one of our big ol' V8s.

There's really no excuse though for Acura to have not shaved some weight off this 3,559lb car. 2,954 though for the Si, so I've got Fred beat there. :P

I think thats a shot at Joey and I...

Celica GT: 2755 lbs
Cooper: 2546 lbs

Hot damn my car weighs a ton. Thank God for the Camry power!

3300 lbs for a hatchback. And you think you guys have problems...

3300lbs for me. But close to twice the power, and twice the driven wheels!

Two Civics?

Hey! You've got a forced-induction powerplant, good for an extra 65 BHP over me. I think that makes things a little more "fair." Well, a bit more quick in your case.

I guess I never really think of the "luxury" in my car either. Although I'm without leather, I've got the sunroof and the full-size spare, not to mention the extra stereo equipment, and all that jazz. The car just feels heavy, despite its small size.

Still. A trackday event, somewhere, would be epic.

That GTi will still get to 60 nearly a second before me. The extra power is nice, but the weight and early torque make it a beast to drive sometimes... very easy to start spinning tires or make the TCS flare up.

Sweet ride! Just like everybody else this makes me want to make a thread about my car too. Wait, I forgot I'm still trying to find one. Anyway, I also support the idea of lowering about an inch. Congrats about the car and I hope you enjoy it.

Plus the fact that I have a big heavy steel push bar at the front, and a big heavy steel cage in the middle!

Your TL weighs 3599 lbs? Wasn't expecting it to be that heavy!

My Accent is apparently 2280 lbs. But I have 300 pounds of ballast onboard between the driver's seat and the steering wheel.

Anyway, nice wheels, Keef.

Not the biggest Honda fan in the world, but the car looks clean. Not bad, Keef. Any more pics with the Enkei's on board?

We've definitely got the heaviest Civics.

I hope radar detectors are legal in Michigan because we're going to take my old Escort 8500 and my cousin's new Valentine One on the Detroit trip to test and compare their ranges and whatnot. Surely we'll meet some radar and/or laser on the way up. I've also decided we're going to have the Garmin plastered on the windshield too, even though I already know how to get there. I'll have to remember to take pictures and stuff.

I just have to ask how cold it was for you to actually get all that snow?!:dopey:

It must have been at least what...29 degrees that day!

And that snow was in December! I know, it's ridiculous. This past December we had no snow at all. December 2007 we got a wallop. Thus, I bought winter tires. Come to find out, it's not going to snow here until March, when it should be getting warmer for spring. :dunce:

As for them being legal, I'm not exactly certain. We have some in my family, but I don't use them. Nevertheless, I think speeding is of little concern in Detroit. When I'm doing 85+ on the highway and still being passed, yes, I think you'll be able to get up there a bit.

They are 100% legal to use, however they can be considered to obstruct your view. A officer would more than likely never pull you over for it but there is a .01% chance they could. Radar jammers are illegal though, but I think that's everywhere.

And remember Michigan cops don't really care all that much as long as you aren't excessively speeding or driving dangerously. I-75 by the Ohio boarder is fun since it's a lot of lanes, extremely flat and everyone books it...sort of a last ditch effort before entering Ohio I suppose...or the celebration of a new found freedom (direction depending).

You might be targeted more though since you are in a red car with Ohio plates, I know if I was a cop I would stop anyone on Ohio plates just to screw with them.

Well, that may be a problem. I'm going to try and convince Tyler to take along his massive V1. We're going to have to fit both detectors and the nav on the windshield! Just those three things are going to be a mess because I'm just too lazy for any preparation...

Lmao. Thank goodness you're a paleontologist then.

When I had my fuzz buster, the Escort 8500 (which finally died), I just kept it low on the windscreen and never had an issue. You are allowed to have a GPS in your window as far as I know, if you couldn't then someone would have sued Garmin or TomTom by now. You could always buy a mount for the GPS as well from Best Buy or something.

But why on earth do you need a GPS to get to Detroit? I assume you are coming to the auto show, it's just I-75 north till you see a sign that says Cobo Hall. And if you are coming next week it's going to be spine shatteringly cold here and if we get snow Detroit doesn't really plow their roads since they are broke.

And I'm an archaeologist...well actually I'm an internet sales manager but who's counting?

I know precisely how to get to Detroit; in fact, the parking garage we park in is almost literally at the end of the highway! We take a few exits and end up in the tunnel underneath COBO. I believe there is a stop light after that tunnel, and then our garage is on the left in the median. From the point we enter I-75 North here to the point where we park our car we encounter only ONE traffic light!

I just want the GPS to keep an eye on roads around us. We've never driven anywhere but our route, so maybe we'll cruise around downtown and check the place out or something.

We parked in the same spot last time I was in Detroit, but we've decided to stick with Chicago instead (bigger, fewer people, more cars). I don't know if you've played GRID, but you actually drive down that same road and by the tunnel/garage... I think about parking there every time I hit that corner at 80+ in my GT1 Saleen S7.

Peugeot 306 5 door 1.4

2270 pounds

the engine was rated at 75hp new, so factoring in the probably small drivetrain loses and the fact that the cars is over a decade old with 140 000 miles I would say it has between 55-60whp now.

55 bhp per ton anyone? :P

You aren't missing much. I can't really think of anything in downtown Detroit worth seeing, especially in the winter.
