Ken Block to Test F1 car at Monza in August

So far what I have seen with Block in WRC is that he can run top 10 unless his car breaks, which it does way too often. His recent rollover - bad pace notes. The last rally - broken driveshaft. (and he was running great before that) People are so easy to judge when they don't know the facts. đź‘Ž

There are only about 10 drivers in the WRC. You would probably have a better case if you compared his pace to Raikkonen.

Has anybody else noticed that Block's videos were highly popular until everyone started watching them, and now where people were praising him, they're implying that he's something of a slacker who invented a sport and hasn't done an honest day's work in his life? Never mind the fact that he co-founded one of the best-known sports brands in the world and oversees the entire company's marketing and PR strategies ...

Anyway, I'll be interested to see how he does, if only to see how he does. I admit to being a little disappointed by Gymkhana_THREE, because it was a lot more conventional than its predecessor. It seemed to focus more on circuit racing. I could see the Monza run being the focus of a fourth video, with a lap of the circuit in the Toyota and a lap of the oval in the Fiesta ...

Ts;Dr: This is probably the most interesting Publicity Stunt with F1 I've seen in a while (since Jeff Gordan drove a Williams during the early 2000s). This is probably a case of: do some serious laps in the beginning, then when we got a leftover pair of hards left do some doughnuts in them. Otherwise, I'm more interested in how Tony Stewart will do around Watkens Glen in a McLaren, rather then seeing a pro Gymkhana-ist in a old Toyota around Monza. More hilarity can ensue with Tony.

You didnt hear about Button taking a Mclaren and then a V8 Supercar around Bathurst before the Melbourne GP then? That to me is more interesting than a guy who is definately a long way from being a WRC 'star' driving an old Toyota around Monza. Although that may just be me :indiff:
 
Interesting to hear as Kenny from the Block was in Schumi's garage yesterday. Not sure what all the hate surrounding Block is for, as even Raikkonen, one of F1's greatest natural talents, did nothing whatsoever to impress in WRC.

Thats just it. For the most part, the guys who do these crossover promotions have won championships in their main discipline (Stewart and Hamilton for example). Personally I have nothing against Block and I'm curious to see how he does, but conceptually I'd be more interested to see two guys like Loeb and Vettel swap, or something like that.

My point was that the majority of his "bad" finishes were due to mechanical failures of some kind. And in most instances, he was running good before they took him out.

Your chart doesn't show that.

Loeb has had several tests in an F1 car. Apparently he's extremely consistent, good in the wet and only a fraction off current F1 drivers. Not forgetting he's also raced Le Mans several times, personally I think he's the best driver in the world.

Im not saying its hated. Personally I enjoyed his first video. Then his next three (four if you count that music video) became way to commercially based. Which is unfortunate.

My point was it is a positive relationship. The more views you get the more popular (in terms of people liking it and it getting more views) you get. I know I showed several people his first video.

Also I dont think youtube is the place to go to get reviews about anything.
 
Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place then because it only seems to be on YouTube. And here to a degree as well.
