Ladder System
Races will be head-to-head: just 2 participants per race. The lower ranked driver chooses whether to lead or to follow. Off the start of the race, the two drivers must fall into line heading into the first corner according to the agreed order. Where it is ambiguous, the first corner will be identified before the race. The behind driver must not pass during the first corner. After the first corner, the race begins.
- If the higher ranked driver wins, the lower driver drops one rank.
- If the lower ranked driver wins, the drivers switch ranks.
- Failure to submit race results by the deadline (Tuesday morning) results in one rank drop for each absentee driver.
Example:
Starting with a ladder like this (A is top ranked, D is lowest ranked):
ABCD
If A wins and C wins, the ladder becomes: ACBD
If B wins and C wins, the ladder becomes: BACD
If A wins and D wins, the ladder becomes: ADBC
If B wins and D wins, the ladder becomes: BADC
Each night, the top-ranked driver races against the 2nd-best driver, 3rd vs. 4th, 5th vs. 6th, etc. The races will be run one after the other, starting with the lowest ranked drivers, going up the ladder. During the race, those not racing would watch. For paired drivers who are not adjacent in the ladder:
- If the higher driver wins, there is no rank change for either driver.
- If the lower driver wins, he jumps up half the distance to the higher driver (rounded in favour of the lower driver).
Newcomers start at the bottom of the ladder.
----
Schedule:
- Tracks and pairings are announced ahead of time; usually on Wednesday morning, but no later than Friday
-Designated race time is Sunday night, 11pm EDT (8pm PDT)
- Designated race time is Thursday night, 11:30pm EDT (8:30pm PDT)
