I wonder if there will be like decals, and body kits for the online gaming, if there is that would be swt. One problem that is in all GT is that they don't have car damage :banghead: when you hit the walls in crap. If they did, I would play the game all the time
 
I wonder when people are going to stop posting this crap? Because that really would be swt. One problem that is in all forums is that people insist on posting crap :banghead: When some people post it's just crap. If they didn't, i wouldn't have to comment all the time.

I just got done reading an in depth article about Gran Turismo 4 that was released today. Kazunori Yamauchi said and I quote "I will not have lame bodykits and decals cluttering and ruining this game." He went on to say that anyone with the name DarkAzN would be banned from online-play.

Hello to both Lancer and DarkAzn, welcome to the Planet. John M. of Houston, Texas, USA. So I understand we have kits and online gaming being mentioned. Let me try to tackle both topics with my critical and even comical commentary.

KITS

I'm surprised no one said "WTF are you thinking? This is Gran Turismo, not Need for Speed: Underground (this is getting killed to death on here)" yet. The only kinds of bodykits I think will work is racing modifications (still unconfirmed as of yet). Think about it. Being able to tune a car with aerodynamic parts to make it a race car, granted your car performs like one to begin with. Mentioned in "Gran Turismo Resorts," there is the probability of a Paint Shop for GT4. I don't know if you can paint your Toyota Altezza in Reflex Spice or not, but the game will allow for custom paints if bodykits are denied. Don't expect to see APC, WingsWest, or anything like that being represented. Most you'll probably get is racing parts from the manufacturer. Aftermarket stuff I don't know about, with a "Tuning Village" also possible. Personally, Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 had the best options in terms of bodykits and aero parts. You build up a car piece-by-piece. You then pick the material you want to use, be it FRP, Urethane, or Dry Carbon. If you ask me, if you have a fully-tuned street car, why not make it a racer? It's pointless to have a street car with all the goodies just be relegated to looking stock. I'm sorry. I just don't see that happening. I want to convert my car (even if it's a cheap car) into a road racer or rally racer. I don't want to carry the same stock apperance as in GT3.

As far as online play goes, it looks like online play will make GT4 better. But I'm not the online gaming type. You don't judge a game as good just because the online play is great. A game has to be good TO BEGIN WITH before judging online play. The only exclusion is Super Smash Bros. Melee for GameCube. You play up to 4 players at home. That's enough excitement to rock the house. Gran Turismo 4 will be fun, don't get me wrong. Just that, I don't think online play will make the game any better. It will be fun, but you don't buy a certain game for online play, but only if the game doesn't REQUIRE multiplayer (like Half-Life Counter-Strike).

There's my mind. Speak yours. And by the way, yeah. Use a search, even if you aren't sure about what you want to devote a thread to.
 
With the race modification and the possibility of a paint shop ( has this been confirmed ? ) i totally agree with John M. of Texas. I dont want to go with the same stock appearance of GT3 as well. I still love my white race Mini with the red hood and the black rims of GT2.
But John ? Online is not important to you ? Come on and think about it. Till now you have only been able to race against other people via iLink, which has been by far the greatest GT experience and the most GT fun so far. If you´ve never done this do it now :) And now with the online option you can race series against other dudes all over the world. I already feel the adrenaline ... Hehehe ....
 
Man, I dunno ytf u guys all getting pissed, just because I wanted to know if there was gonna be kits in GT4, because "ALL REAL CARS IN REAL LIFE HAVE KITS MOSTLY"......jeez i was just wondering, no need to talk crap to me. That's why ppl like Monster7 have no friends...p.s I always do use the search :)

Wooo. All real cars have kits, mostly! All real cars that have kits, have kits, but the ones that don't, don't, but most of them do.

Are you saying that all cars produced today have a bodykit? Or is it most of the cars produced today have bodykits? What do you mean by most? 98%?

My car does not have a bodykit. Neither does my dad's. Nor my mum's. Niether of my next door neighbour's cars have body kits. I just went and looked out my window. I can see 19 cars. None of them have a bodykit.
 
I meant all cars in real life can have body kits, if you want it lol
 
Plenty of race cars have body kits too, not all race cars have one, two or three peice specially made for that car bodies.

No body kit's??? So you don't want to see race mod's come back? Don't worry I know what you mean, no custom kit's like in NFS:U. I wouldn't mind custom kit's if the choices were limited in most areas and the parts were all authentic aero kit's used in real life on race cars.

There won't be visible damage, but it would've been nice, but I respect PD for not doing it until they have good enough technology to do it properly.

As for decals, have you thought about how decals are put on real race cars, it's not like you get hold of a Ford Focus RS WRC and just plaster it with decals, you get sponsorship and then put the decals for your sponsor on the car. One way you could do that in a game would be to make it that once you've won so many races in your car, a company will offer to sponsor you,if you choose yes, you get a choice of sets of decals to put on your car (all authentic decals and designs) and then you get sponsor Cr at the end of each race but not much.

Just some ideas to include these features that ar in real life without offering players the chance to turn GT4 into the next NFS:U.
 
Hehe I still remember putting the racing mod on my Levin in GT1 :D This was before I'd even heard about Initial D.
 
al cars in real life can be up on bricks... in Liverpool. that doesnt mean it should be in the game
 
No, but GT4 involves racing cars, in real life plenty of race cars have body kit's they also are covered in sponsors decal's if you haven't noticed. Real race cars don't go round on bricks but they do go round with spoilers and wings and decals all over them.

Now for my first post, I know I said that I didn't care too much about online play. To me, I have no problem with online play. I was just hoping that people don't buy GT4 just to race online and almost neglect all of single-player. My problem is that I don't have any resources to play online, and then having to pay for it all is just as bad. I got someone else paying my AOL, so I can't get online and (by the way, I have dial-up) play, while I'm online on my computer. I don't know. Too much work. Money gone. You face someone from far away who think they are better than you.

My thing is, okay. When I said that "you don't judge good games...online play," I'm not saying that online play with GT4 will KILL the game, just that I don't want people thinking that buying GT4 for online play only doesn't mean it's the best game of all-time. You look at games like Topspin, Project Gotham Racing 2, Unreal Tournament 2004, Final Fantasy 11, and such. All I'm saying is that even though being online is cool, it doesn't mean the game is impressive because of it. I've played Unreal Tournament classic on my PC, it's a very fun game. I just don't do online play, that's it.

That's what I wanted to clarify about online gaming with GT4, Bonsai.
 
I can see where you're coming from, John. For example, Splinter Cell 2. No one bought it for the single player and storyline. Everyone bought it so they could just sneak up on someone, and before they kill them, yell 'NOOB!' in the victim's ear with the headset online.

If everyone bought GT4 just to race B16s and pretend to 'drift' all day, then that would dumb GT4 to the lowest level.

If there were some sort of 'award' system that would force you to go through single player if you wanted to unlock more tracks or cars to use online or have a certain license rank to even unlock the online play all together. That would solve this 'dumbing down' of GT4 for just online play.

Only the true driver will appreciate single player in GT4.
 
A license based match system would be a good idea actually.

Final Fantasy 11 was MP only wasn't it?

Online play will not make or break GT4 but it'll certainly add to it if it's there.

If they do include body kits - i hope they appear as they do here in the UK - ie HUGE un-aerodynamic rear wings and ugly body kits - badly fixed onto the slowest possible cars (like a 1.1 vauxhaul nova needs more aerodynamic hinderance) then painted in 'primer' grey and left that way.
 
I think that's what we all want deep down. Along with a good beating.

Dont forget the 4 inch tail pipe and rear box just to drop the engine performance a little more.
 
...and a ultra low profile tyres/lowered suspension combo (on original soft spring settings) just to make the ride and handling really sweet!
 
To:JohnBM01 .....I don't think ppl will buy GT4 just to play online.......even though its awesome, but most ppl are just interested in playing the game, and testing out new cars and lvls
 
If it's good, the masses will come. Look at CS. It was just an evolution of an extraordinary SP game.
