Knee Problems Anyone?

That's very odd that they can't figure out what's wrong with your knee, sometimes they just have to go in and see first hand instead of trying to read an MRI or X-Ray although they do normally tell what's going on. I'm very lucky to have one of the best orthopedic surgeons in Texas about five minutes from my house and he's done all my knee work. I'm not saying experience is the reason why they can't figure out what's wrong with your knee but it sure doesn't hurt!

They have a good idea but they aren't 100% sure which makes me sceptical, I'm not really open to exploratory surgery.

My brother has knee problems (requires surgery) but he hasn't went for it.
Mine just grind all the time, my left hip pops a lot.

You could of done a little damage to your knee but if I can remember correctly the first time I tore my meniscus it hurt badly right when I injured it but a couple days after I could walk just fine with no pain, which makes my regret the surgery because I now feel it was a bit unnecessary.

I'm not sure exactly what it is, even after doing some research. The outer part of my right knee is all I know. The night I came back from hiking I could hardly bend it. At one point I couldn't get out of bed.

Shorter hike this time I guess.

Left knee is basically held together with bailing wire. It's had ligaments torn from hockey, cartilage damage from more hockey, and a shattered patella from...a car accident.

The weird thing is it's been numb since I was 13 or so after I had surgery. It's as if it has 'fallen asleep' and you can't wake it up. Pins & needles and cold flashes. I can take a proper needle, shove it into my knee, and feel nothing but coldness. All the damage has given the nerves in my knee a bit of an identity complex.

That doesn't sound good at all... :scared:

Do anyone else knees 'click' when they stand or move their knee at all? Or is that just me?
I can even do it just by cocking my leg a bit. :(

My left-hip pops out whenever I roll over in bed, walk and take a turn etc. My knees routinely hurt too, but I'm used to it.

Yes mine have always done that and unless it's bothering you there's nothing really to worry about IMO.

It doesn't bother me. I just find it a bit unnatural.

Well your knee isn't suppose to be clicking but mine have done so ever since I was little and the doctors have thought nothing of it. I'm also a bit knock kneed so that might cause some of the clicking and discomfort from what I hear.

I fell heavily a few years back and landed with all my weight going through my knee and put the knee cap back between the two leg bones messing up a whole load of stuff in there, cartilage e.t.c. :ouch: I now have recurring pains in both knees due to the injury in my right knee and stress due to being on crutches for four months and not being aloud to put any weight on my other leg. Its a real drag as whenever I ski or run now after long periods of time I am in agony and I can't do anything strenuous now. I had loads of physiotherapy after coming off crutches but still no improvement. Knees are fickle things and really wish they would just get better :grumpy:

I feel your pain, after my knee right knee injury a couple years back and the one just recently I feel as if they're extremely fragile and a bit abnormal. My left knee has also always bothered me and it seems to be getting worse as time passes which isn't a good sign.

Knees are a pain in the 🤬!

When I was 16 I snagged my left leg while dirt bike riding. My knee popped out of joint and I struggled with a lot of pain to get it back. After several unsuccesful tries, I discovered that if I squatted down fully and placed all my weight on the right leg, I was able to straighten the left leg and the knee went back into place with very minor pain. As far back as I can remember both my knees made the "popping" sound (previously described here) when I squatted down fully ... never thought much of it. After the dirt bike incident, I noticed that the left knee no longer made the popping sound ? In my late 20's the left knee began to give me issues, popping out of place maybe once a month. It always went back into place easily by doing my little ritual of squatting fully, placing all my weight on the right leg and slowly straightening the left. By the time I got into my 30's it was coming out of place about once a week now but always went back in with my little ritual. By the time I reached my 40's, it was popping out of joint almost dailey, sometimes by simply catching my toe on the blanket when I got into bed at night. Again, my little ritual always got it back into position with no pain and no problems but I figured it only a matter of time and I would have to address the issue medically.

Then one day when I was 48, I was carrying more luggage than I should have up a staircase to a motel room while on vacation. The left knee popped out again and I collapsed in pain. This time it really hurt bad and refused to go back into place with my little ritual. I couldn't straighten my leg nor put weight on it. I spent the first 3 days of my vacation in the motel room with ice bags on the knee. Eventually, I could hobble around a bit but kept icing it the whole time I was on vacation.

Now for the good part .... At the end of the week we got home and I stayed in bed mostly and kept icing it. After 2 or 3 more weeks, I noticed that I could actually straighten the leg and put weight on it again. That was 15 years ago and the knee has never popped out of joint since then. It also started making the popping noise when compressed in a full squat like it used to decades before. I don't know how I injured it on that staircase years ago, nor how it healed itself back to 100%. All I know is that I'm mindfull of not abusing it like I used to when I was young :)

My knee pops out of joint often. It's pain beyond belief, unless you've had it happen to you. I have it happen once a month. The worst part it having to snap it back into place without anyone realising that you've done it in the first place.

Wow, you have defiantly had some time with your knee! I'm glad to hear it isn't giving you any problems to date though.
