Koenigsegg designer Mattias Vocks is building a new car based on the Volvo P1800... If it goes into production it will have the V8 of the XC90 with a turbo clamped onto it and 6-speed manual producing 600HP... I hope it does go into production because I love the design :) What do you think ?

those rims are the biggest sacrilege on that car.
 
Well, once again, it's a render, thus the rims will likely be smaller on a real version...but, please, PLEASE, bend some sheetmetal for this!
 
I like it!! I love how more of these designers are bringing back retro muscle into modern car designs.
Just like Jim said, the wheels will be smaller once the real car is produced. I like big wheels but the back ones are too big for sure. They need to raise the back of the car or tone the wheel down about an inch.
 
Yup, they are renders unfortunately... but I figured I'd post it anyway :) The overall design is just great IMO...
 
That looks awesome, if the final thing looks anything like that it will quickly become one of my favourite cars. 👍 I prefer the top set of wheels to the bottom ones.
 
As has already been said, other than the usual stupidly oversized wheels it looks super nice. However, I very much doubt it will meet European regulations for pedestrian safety and therefore will stuggle to make production.
 
Make the red centered wheels 2" smaller, raise the entire thing the same 2" and it'll look like it can actually be driven. The rear fins could also be a bit higher to my liking but overall, this is how a retro model should be made.
 
While other people don't seem to be too keen on this design, I am blown away by it. I think it looks down right gorgeous, jawdropping!
 
Its a nice car . . . but there is something in the front that I do not like, I think is the strange shape of lights and front grille!

Just like the original P1800 (from when pedestrian safety was optional for car makers :-) )
 
It looks pretty cool, but I think it looks more like a customized P1800 than a new car... In other words, I don't think it'll go into production.

The idea is cool, but it needs to look like a new car, with only some inspiration taken from the P1800. And then I don't think it should carry a V8 (since Yamaha make them). A Volvo T5 (or even a T4, since the original P1800 carried 1.8 and 2.0 litre 4 cylinder engines) engine would be much better IMO.

However, the biggest problem is probably that it needs to have rear wheel drive, and that's never gonna happen unfortunately.
 
Ditch the stupid dub rims and where do I sign? Awsome design otherwise.
 
That thing is smoking hot. More cars would look as good if they weren't wedges on wheels.

get used to the damn dub rims, that's all they make. what size was on the original...13? 12?!
 
FINALLY someone has grasped that we all go shocking and aweing everytimg we see something like a ferrari 250. Why haven't more people done this sort of thing? The shapes of some Italian cars back in the '60s are nigh on unbeatable and we should be creating the same sort of designs today!

2. Bloody Volvo drivers will drop the drving badly act as they wouldn't want to put in in danger.

Trust me, it's an act. After that ad campaign came on, dad started parking in private car spaces - and he would only get off with a "oh hahaa. it's just a bloody volvo driver" :lol:

It goes without saying that Vocks make some great improvements.
 
Wow, there's a guy with a Volvo P1800 right around the corner from my house. His is in amazingly good condition.

I like this concept and hope to see them on the road - but find it highly unlikely.
 
Looks absolutely stunning to me. Sure the rims are a bit too big but wow. It would be totally rad if they make it!

It was just a joke.:p I'd be more worried by Falcon drivers.:scared:
 
the concept is a LOT longer...

most of us yanks don't get too excited over an import, especially when all you see is pickups.
the attitude around here is still that Euoropean cars are a rusty joke or are for rich people who can afford to imort the 5 cent broken part from thousands of miles away. sorry, guys, but everything not "native" is lumped under the "rich furriners" banner untill the generations that see that way have died.

Weird?? I dont really understand this reaction... just because its European you or other Americans dont or wont like it? and who cares about buying it... all I asked about was the design... I know I wouldnt be able to afford it but I dont bias my judgements accordingly towards european, american or any other cars for that matter..... Oh well.. to everyone his own opinion... 👍
 
May I disagree, Sniffs? I realize you're speaking from a Blue Collar point of view, but that doesn't stand for everyone. European cars are quite common here in Peoria, granted, we have a fair population, but for being a major Industrial town, there's quite a few Audis, Mercedes, and Saabs...ESPECIALLY Saabs. (I think this is because the dealer is a Chevy dealer, too, people go in looking for a Cheby, find out they can afford a Saab...) Quite a few VWs, too, and the occasional MINI...though I've no clue where the latter come from, since I don't think we have a nearby dealer.

I just want to say that Americans as a whole aren't that Backwards in their way of thinking. and we wonder why the "Redneck" stereotype is perpetuated...

Unfortunately, I live in Yankee Redneck central.

Blitz:it's not the actuall cars, it's the older generation's memories of non-luxury imports being better fishing bait than anything else. it may also have to do with the size. ask around the older driver-members in here about some of the duds that mainland europe used to import, here.

Prower:actually, from a BROWN collar POV (carharts). I'm from a real hickish area, and not what some of my aunts and uncles would call a "city boy". you'll have to take what I say with a backwoods grain of salt. it's not the "americans as a whole", it's the ones who make the little bit of money out here in cowpat country.

this is a Chevy-heavy area out here (in terms of dealerships), and, yet, is more ford country than anything else. even Japanese are sparse out here (Koreans seem to be an exception). I needed to see a real 1800 because I've never seen one physically, even at car shows.
