Koenigsegg One:1

Certainly seems like it could be the fastest road car around the 'Ring. Huge downforce, very high top speed and a power to weight ratio that a P1 can only dream of.

I find it hard to appreciate or even care about these sorts of records. They are utterly meaningless. I would love to see Koenigsegg actually accomplish the rather more difficult goal of building a performance car that non-billionaires can buy.

It's sickening how many $1+ MILLION cars are available to buy today. Remember the shock and disbelief when the Mclaren F1 almost cost $1 million?

It has come to the point where $1 billion goes up to shock and disbelief levels.

Could be or not could be an hyperbole.

Still waiting for them to actually go after the speed record instead of 0-such & such speed-0. I think only Ultima has ever given an ounce of care about achieving that record.

I liked Koenigsegg initially for the story behind it, but now it's just another hypercar and hypercars don't appeal to me. Small cars with small engines and skinny tires. ;)

Don't we already have those? Why does Koenigsegg need to get involved. I like where they are now, I might not be able to buy their cars, but they're more interesting then the "regular" stuff generally. It trickles down anyway, it's easier to justify new technology when you can slap a huge price tag on it.

Exactly. Koenigsegg have their place in the market. If you can't afford one, buy a Porsche. If you can't afford a Porsche, buy a Toyota etc. etc.

I don't think that's their goal to be honest. Their goal is to make a car go around a track as fast as possible. That means high power, low weight and lots of aero (which means drag). The massive top speed is just a side effect. Back in the day the McLaren F1 aimed to be the ultimate track car, and it's fortunate enough to also hold the top speed record. These days with specialised cars like the Veyron SS and Venom it's hard to also get V-max record without compromising all around track performance.

I'm curious as to what the Regera can do though.

I think it might be the other way around. The Veyron and Venom and the old type of supercar that fast, but very much road cars. These days, you also have what amount to road going race cars with fully developed aero packages that are better than those from older generations of real race cars. If you want to be the best at everything, you need a full span wing, large diveplanes, and a massive splitter that can all be retracted into body work. It might be possible, but it won't result in a comfy city cruiser with tons of interior space and noise deadening.

So pretty much the SRT Tomahawk X right? :P

I also think active aero is the way to go, but all those hydraulic mechanisms and sensors will also add weight to the car and a layer of complexity. Mr Koenigsegg seems to be allergic to overly complicated designs and heavy weight. He strikes me more as someone from the old school of Gordon Murray and Colin Chapman when it comes to car building.

So yeah, Koenigsegg probably won't make a car with full active aero (though the One:1 rear wing is very impressive). I think it's something that the big 3 (Ferrari, McLaren, Porsche) are more likely to do.

Am I still alive? I thought I died and went to Heaven seeing these two Koenigseggs being driven together. If you're familiar with the expression "pick your poison," this is more like "pick your awesome" with these two cars. You're a winner with either Koenigsegg.

Yes this car is insane and will just about beat a Kawasaki H2R from 0-200mph. (by about a second in a half!)

You have to give the Swedes some credit, a 1400bhp car that is pretty driveable from what I gather!!

Well then...240mph on a 1.4 mile straight in pretty bad weather conditions.

This car scares me.

The Chiron will need to watch its back as the One:1's true fury is slowly unleashed.

And I imagine all the aero bits knocked off a pretty good chunk of it's speed, as well.

I don't think the Chiron will stand a chance against this. The Agera R already pretty much annihilates the Veyron SS.
And then there's the Regera...

I just have infinite respect for Mr. Von Koenigsegg. I cannot even imagine what it's like to have the world's most outrageous hypercars carry your own name.

While it isn't new, I saw most of that documentary "APEX: The Story of the Hypercar" with the Koenigsegg One:1 featured. This hypercar is simply stunning. Immense power and performance while looking truly beautiful. I can't see how anyone can not even be the least bit intrigued about this car. I accurately described the One:1 as an already bonkers car made even more bonkers. I was most intrigued by the composition of this car and how everything comes together. If I ever get to see one of these in person, I will be absolutely floored.

Aside from Ehra-Lessien, which is owned by Volkswagen, are there any other proving grounds where the One:1 could hit it's true top speed? 240 MPH is an mind-boggling number, but I think it can go beyond that.
