Mission accomplished🙂

It wasn't even a good performance by me, I was slower then I was before. Halfway into lap 2 I got this strange buck that feels like there's something wrong with the clutch/throttle. That's either a specific bug for this car or my controller is dying. Anyway, this completely put me out of the zone and I f'd up the rest of the lap.
At the third lap I realized that I can win, got nervous and f'd up again😕
But for the last lap I managed to stay cool and bring it home safely🙂

If I could do it, most people can. I guess it's like @kartrcr08 said and the AI's performance is somehow tied to your performance. So maybe my bad second lap did even help in the end?😄 Who knows.
But if you get the right grid/timing you can definitely win this with a bit of luck. And if you're a better driver than me, that also helps😂

Here are my settings:

Good luck everyone!

I took two of my newest cars to La Sarthe, my new Ferrari 250 GTO and my Porsche RSR.
With some additional parts and tuning the GTO had an easy time with minimal rain, just enough to force a change of tyres. I was able to accomplish 4 laps at FM6 and with one pitstop was able to win with 7 laps.

Old passing the new...

On the second race with the RSR I had more rain, it started at the end of lap 2 and continued on thru 5.
As I was entering pit lane at end of 2 I was rammed and spun around by the Corvette!

I thought that the AI respected some aspects of racing....

Quick question, what's the current best way of grinding credits? Reason for asking is i have had GT7 pretty much since day 1 but never had the time to sit and grind credits, got some time over Christmas so want to max the return to buy the cars I need.

They are many many cars that can win La Sarthe ,but the easiest way and the faster one is with Escudo since is capable to run even under 3.50s

You need RH and intermediate tyres.
High rpm turbo ( from the second missing page )
Racing gearbox at 330
And FM4 for 2 stop race .

Unfortunately my sheet is in Greek language but just follow the digits.
Note that Escudo tune belong to the " glitched" ones which gives higher pp with intermediate tyres depending on the settings.
Didn't use it with the latest update to see if something changed, but i hope not.

Here's the set up

Just make sure to have your eyes to the weather radar to switch to intermediate tyres on the right time ( not that you will have major problems if you don't)

Amazing, thanks for sharing that, will give it a try and see how i get on

Just finished a run with my Cargo van and I forgot to reset my difficulty back to Normal from Hard (testing)
It was not hard but interesting when I realized why I had not passed too many others in beginning laps and remembered I didn't reset my difficulty setting (lol)
The Espace F1 with the settings will do 4 laps at FM6 and tyre wear is below average.

Not so long ago I got the gift of a PS5 so I could be ready for when the PP DLC dropped, thus I was prepared for the "harder" races.
I upped my difficulty from easy to normal to get used to SOPHY 3.0 and practiced on my favourite track Le Mans.
I found that normal difficulty was not easy at first (and still not) but I'm getting the better races that push me to do better.
My latest is my fully tuned (no swap) Mercedes-Benz 190E and finished within 12 seconds all because of the randomness of the weather.

I am enjoying new challenges.

My favorite cars for the La Sarthe 30 minute race in the photo below. All have good economy and tyre life.

The easiest win (for me, YMMV), is the engine-swapped BAC Mono, however the gold Honda is the most exhilarating. I have seen 317 kph (197 mph). That open cockpit is something else!!!

It weighs in under 900 pounds, the only other "car" which is lighter is a Kart.

Here's a list of cars that I have had success with. My skill level is 💩 and I play on "Normal" difficulty...

2&4 powered by RC213V
A110 '17
Mono '16
RA272 '65
A220 Race Car '68
911 RSR (991) '17
NSX GT500 '00
911 GT1 Strassenversion '97
XJ13 '66
787B '91

I have also used the Chevelle SS 454 '70 with very mixed results. I use it when I want a real challenge and it always delivers that challenging experience.

The Subaru BRZ GT300 '21 in my hands has never got on the podium.

Anyway, here are my favorites when I'm seeking to top up the bank account...

And here’s a possible contender 🤔 (yet to be unleashed…)

I can now say I DO recommend the "Not Your Grandmother's MAZDA3" for La Sarthe

Ignore the tacho, it's marked up for the stock engine. You'll have to change gears by ear.

(The suspension tuning is by guesswork, ignore it)

I don't pay much attention to the engine swaps but when I found out about the Mazda3 with the 787 motor and the Espace motor in the Renault Megane Trophy really got my interest.
I did the swaps and ran them both in the WTC700 and did well.

It's since becoming addicted to La Sarthe's WTC700 that I've got really excited about engine swaps. I think the BAC Mono started me down this path.

For some reason, I get the impression that engine-swapped cars are "more effective". Maybe their PPs are bigger than other cars' PPs, and some seem to have to pit less frequently for a drink.

Always depends on the engine you use .
It was my addiction also ( 3-4 times a day ) for one year almost from the day i unlock it .

We have put a lot of cars in test on that thread ,plus some " silent" challenges, settings that we share etc.
Unfortunately during updates, things changed plus the majority of us doesn't need to grid any more for credits.
Have in mind that swapped cars is an expensive " sport " and very few of them are particularly successful.
Enjoy your Lemans journey with everything that pleases you , keep in note that Escudo ( not the swapped version) was , is and probably will remains the faster car for that race .
I might not participate in this any more, but am glad to see people keep it alive and find it interesting.

Great points you make here.

I am still needing credits to fill out my car collection, and I'm at a stage where most of the unowned cars are REALLY expensive.

Also, I don't spend money on the engine swaps, I just use the ones I've picked up by chance. Happy to now find a use for a small number of them.

Yes, we have and still doing so...

The race engines like from the "group" cars are notably better in the fuel mileage aspect.
Engines from high speed and non-racing cars drink like a thirsty wino after church retreat...

Thinking of Hellcat engine in a Jeep, at PP=629, seen here about to say goodbye to two far more refined machines... only to lose later on due to pit stops

The Chiron swaps really drink fuel, not even getting 2 laps at LeMans.

I still remember a challenge we had with Chiron pitting every single lap .
A board all red 🤣 .
Swaps that aren't so thirsty are usually from race car engines , also tyre wear might be a problem .
You might have fuels to go but not tyres.
One of my best memories was when we was searching for cars at non stop mod .

I never ride this one so i can't tell.
Perhaps some swapped cars can do the " trick " but nothing from what i try comes to mind that can achieve that .
Even the faster cars with huge top speed at straights they suffer in brakes and need much more distance to stop ,also they suffer from excessive tyre wear and unfortunately are fuel burners
. Don't want to disappoint you but if you find any, ill be glad to share it with us .
Agreed!

For fun, I bought a Eunos Roadster (NA) '89 so as to fit a spare 13B-REW-RX-7 engine I had lying around, and threw some (a lot of) other parts at it to see what happens.

I'm clueless as far as suspension tuning is concerned, so it was extremely twitchy but heck, the objective was "fun" anyway. This thing easily sees 220 mph (354 kph) at the end of the first phase of Mulsanne with zero downforce. Stopping from the achieved velocities is another thing.

All I can say is on the first attempt, I had a lot of challenging fun and didn't come in dead last.

I think I'll try it again and add some actual downforce to keep it on the ground. Tweaking the downforce and taking 1% out of power has brought it to EXACTLY PP=700.00, which is maybe "a sign"?

Over the years this thread has tested hundreds of cars that can win the 30 minute La Sarthe on any difficulty. The massive variety of cars that are competitive make it my favorite grind. For example; All the old Group C cars, all the Gr 2's, all Gr 3's, all Gr 4's, all Gr B, that's over a hundred in just "group" cars. Any swap with a race engine is generally a winner. I'd guess there are 200-250 cars that can win on any difficulty and on EASY mode probably closer to 400.

Went with the Mustang AR. Stock parts. Just lower BHP. Shifting at 8000rpm got me 3 laps per stint. Had rain end of Lap2-Lap 5. Plus a 1 second penalty to slow my fastest lap on the final lap. Could probably do 4 minutes when shifting at redline(8800rpm).
