La Sarthe and Spa ,weather report and other " stuff "

you can tweak suspension and downforce the custom race BoP seems to only affect weight and HP.
I did not know this, I'm on a ps4 and I had believed that BoP locks all settings on the cars, I will tweek my DF and see if anything improves.
I had also done some testing with the refuel rate and 10 liters/sec seems to be OK despite it is faster than real time.
The default of 3 ltrs/sec is slower than the WTC700 and trying to figure out by trial and error how fast the refuel is in that race.

So this is what it took to beat the "real" SOPHY in the BoP custom race.

I had a lot of fun ringing out the Gr4's in the BoP custom race thanks to jrbabbitt. However my current account is not credits rich so I thought about a similar, but more lucrative version in the WTC 700. For anyone looking for a bit of a challenge, i.e not a mindless guaranteed win, here are my Group 4 ideas for all three difficulty levels.
1. Easy mode; Mimic the Gr4 BoP settings for power and weight and RH tires only, rains allowed obviously. All Gr4 cars eligible. Example the Viper stock is 428 Hp @ 3086 lb, BoP it's 317 Hp @ 3097 lb.
2. Normal mode; Box stock Gr 4 power and gearbox and RH only. Anything else can be tuned. Ineligible cars; Viper and Alfa 155.
3. Hard mode; Box stock Gr4 power and gearbox with open tires, only banned car is the Alfa 155, it' not really a Gr4.
That's it, my guess is 1 and 3 will be the hardest with a dry race being the most difficult on all three. For reference the typical AI fast laps; Easy 4:35 +/-, Normal 4:25, Hard 4:16.

Oh I gotta try this.....thank you

I gave the Hard mode option a couple of tries and it is tough! First try was the WRX, got a dry race and was able to manage a one stop on FM1 got smoked by 30 seconds ended up P4. Second try in the Vette, got a wet race so should have a shot, wrong. The Viper pulled his Senna on slicks trick when the whole field got caught out in a mid lap downpour, put a 45 second gap on the field pitted for inters never to be seen again. I managed a P2 but nearly 40 seconds back. The Viper, of course, had fast lap both times @ 4:13 and 4:14. Possible winning strategy for a dry race I think needs to be a one stop, in a rain race anything can happen but perfect strategy is needed to win.

I had set up a custom 700 pp group using all the cars that I usually take to LeMans. So it was a very wide ranking group. I didn't use any Gr.1 or Gr.2 cars. I was always middle of the pack but to my surprise the Escudo was dominate. I am thinking of taking it out of the group as will end up in 1st by the end. I didn't set the tear wear and fuel properly so that may be the cause the Escudos dominance. I don't have all of Gr.4 but I think I might get them all and try them in a custom race at LeMans

I don't understand how I won this, i set my car as instructed (Honda NSX) and i knew that all other cars in the WTC700 were much closer to the 700pp than mine because I was BoP and they were not, I felt I was at a disadvantage on the start but I have a "no quit" policy and pushed with a 17 second lead over P2 in 7 laps. Rain was there but not enough to force a change of tyres, and I dropped to FM6 just in last sector of lap 6 so I didn't have to refuel and passed into P1 at beginning of lap 7 as the Viper was in the pits.
Great time and a challenge and the high payout, thank you.

Great job! The "dry" race scenario is certainly the most difficult, one stopped for the win!

I was finally able to win a dry race in the Hard mode stock Gr4 challenge. Unfortunately I had to resort to using... the Viper :( Two stop FM1, I did a 3-2-2 while the AI Viper did his 3-3-1, was able to short fuel on my second stop and have a decent out lap, passed the Viper as he was coming out of the pits and held him off through the final lap. Nothing to be proud of but I will do it in a car not named Viper!
Some observations on Hard mode dry race AI behaviors ( these are meaningless if you're blitzing the field, but if you're not in the lead by the end of lap 2...)
There are two scenarios that occur in 99% of dry races.
Number 1; The Viper wins/is the fastest AI, this is 70-80% of dry races whether he has his "A" game or not.
Number 2; The Viper does not have his "A" game, this is determined by his lap 2 time, 4:16 or better is "A" game, almost always he sets fast lap on lap 2. In this scenario there are two other cars that can win, the Huracan and the Vette. The Huracan always does a 4-3 one stop but the key to him having a chance is the first lap. If he doesn't butcher the first corner onto Mullsane, which he does a lot, there's a chance. The Corvette can win when he realizes he can do a third lap with 35 liters of left and does a two stop instead of three! These three cars are the winning AI in 99% of dry races.
