Thats a bit crazy, because I know in F1 you get a penalty if all four wheels are over the curb, I see drivers get two wheels off all the time, and I think it may even be the same with Le Mans
I've encountered multiple penalties that weren't my fault (people ramming me into the final chicane complex at La Sarthe ). I think PD really needs to find a better system of deciding whose fault it is and assigning the penalty accordingly. I have a feeling that this is possible because in multiple instances I've seen an "innocent" car become a ghost right before someone rammed into them. This resulted in the rammer hurtling off the track . They must have some way of deciding who the antagonist is.
As for the updated penalty areas, I don't really mind. All we need to do is clean up our lines and respect the track . I do agree that it can (and will) be a surprise at first and could throw off the results of our first couple online races. However, my feeling is that if we are good at driving the track because we cut, put wheels off, use runoffs, or cheat, we aren't really good at all.
