La Sarthe 2009 No chics is my favorite. Each time I buy a new car, it hits this track first, good for both top speed and handling tests:tup:

However, I am forced to use the 2005 No chic version in online lobbies, as it is more noob-proof:sly:

I despise the chicaned version, unless I'm driving a car with less than 450hp. They ruin one of the most epic parts of the whole circuit IMHO:yuck:

I love me some 09 chicanes!!!!

The no chicane has recently brought me in with the online races seems more popular to me online, this is a fun track with a fully mod Viper.

I always take my new cars the Nordschleife but coming here has been my first choice.

God bless your opinion bro, it's exacly mine:)👍

EDIT: Drag racing with GT by Citroen in reverse gear:scared:

La Sarthe without chicane is to much easy:tdown:Lemans 2009 too much chicane cuts:tdown:I love La Sarthe 2005 with chicane!👍

Blame the stupid FIA for ruining the Mulsanne straight :grumpy:. Sarthe 2009 is the most realistic one given that they have never driven the unchicaned version in a looong time.

What a shame...

By the way, what's the difference between 2005 and 2009 version?

I prefer unchicaned, because it's where you seperate the men from the boys... Sort of xD

I agree the 2005 version is much more unforgiving and interesting.:)

Less run off areas(the blue zones are sand traps:scared:) and the first chicane after the finish line is trickier, narrower and more close to the straight...

The FIA have nothing to do with Le Mans, its the ACO that organise it. To be fair they had to do something as the speeds down Mulsanne were getting daft.

It's a real shame they didn't include the Bugatti layout of the track. Before this game was released I kind of thought it would have been in there for certain.

Maybe if PD's next project is TT2 we will get GP bikes and Bugatti layout :)

I know, the Automobile Club de l'Ouest organizes and decides everything Le Mans wise, including it's asian, american, and intercontinental versions, but in 1990 it actually was the F.I.A who dictated that the Mulsanne straight should be cut.

Google it if you wish.

The FIA govern most high end motorsport, including the Le Mans series and they also santion the tracks which can be raced on. It was decided in 1990 that no race track shall have a straight more than 2km long, so the chicanes were added.

Fair one! Surprised the ACO listened to the FIA they usually give them a damn good ignoring.

Yeah...stupid FIA and their senile and crooked governors 👎. If it was up to them, the Nordschleife and La Sarthe would be redesigned by Hermann Tilke and stripped of all their character and fun.

2009 Time/Weather change. But since it's not in teh choices, I'll go with the 2009 without chicanes.

EDIT: Actually can't decide, ALL variations are good. Too late to change my vote. :grumpy:

Nordschleifes is 2.2 KM's long, IIRC.

Yeah, I really like the Bugatti track in FM3.

But my favorite layout would have to be 2009 just be because of weather and time change.

^ Had this version been in the game, it would've been my favorite. Especially with that car:drool:

You can also notice the hills are much higher. Due to the CLR flips, despite being caused by an aerodynamic flaw, those idiots at the FIA decided to get the ACO to lower the hill itself:dunce:

the camera angle when the cars crest the top of the hill on the Mulsanne no chicanes on the 2005 track was my favorite in GT4.. plus the track is much more unforgiving than the 2009

How could anyone hate all circuit de la sarthe versions? I love the 2009 with chicanes. Wish I had the ability to turn off the rain and go through the track with day/night transition without being annoyed by rain.

As for me, i can't decide which one is better because i think they're all good tracks.

2005 for less run-off areas and for the experience like GT4. 2009 is alright, but always crush by just plowing through corners.

I have to say, it changes depending on my mood. I like them all, but at the moment, I actually get the most fun out of 2009 with chicanes. It allows you to take a car with which you'd have no chances of winning if you were to race "clean", and take that track for all it's worth. :D

2005 Sarthe is the only way to fly.... Mainly because it is more challenging and takes away the grey areas pertaining to track boundries. The only reason the ACO added the run off and re-profiled (more corners than they did in the game) is because they wanted to improve the spectacle by allowing drivers to make mistakes without having to get plucked out of the kitty litter by a tractor. Also to those who say that the track was 'ruined' by the chicanes, every driver interviewed as far back as 1991 would say that the mulsanne was an unnecessary risk and that it was an 'easier' and 'more dangerous' track' when one had to go flat out (or in the case of the porsche 962, one had to lift 3 times on the mullsanne so that the turbos could cool down) for over a minute reaching a mind boggling 256 mph was a careless excersize in bravery and luck. Furthermore the 'bump' in which the clk-gtlm did 2 yes 2 backflips made the entry in to the porsche curves somewhat blind and, as there is little run off area, needlessly dangerous. My only beef with calling Old Le Sarthe or 'no chicanes' LeSarthe is that therev are still added chicanes under dunlop bridge (added in the mid 90s) porsche curves ( 70s) and ford chicane (to ensure that ford would forever hold the track record... at least til audi and Pugeot eventually beat it) a true 'no chicane circuit would be boring on a video game as there is no personal risk involved, however, as a historian by trade, iwould appreciate at least an explaination of what le cirque du sarthe originally was and looked like.

2005 with chicanes all day. Love them both however. For those wanting night time without rain use practice mode in gt mode for 1 make races or timed runs. The weather is variable so sometimes the rain does not fall at all. I do wish rain could be turned off in arcade too.
