The 2005 version is graphically inferior to the 2009 one and has got no time or weather changes; it really looks like a PS2 upscaled conversion (as several other tracks in the game). Basically pointless, except for granting GT5 "70+ tracks". It is not even used in any A/B spec events.

I personally prefer the 2005 version. The gravel is a lot closer and it's a lot more punishing if you run wide unlike the Tarmac on the 2009 track.
I am however a bug fan of the old style tracks with gravel/grass/Walls everywhere and really dislike huge run off areas.

I perfer 2009. The night racing is amazing. Also, it's really scary to do the Mulsanne with no chicanes in a low-downforce car with poor grip. I remember trying it with my Enzo once to see how much faster it was then the seasonal with the chicanes.

Not a fun feeling to be drifting a car at 260 MPH :scared:

The FIA govern most high end motorsport, including the Le Mans series and they also santion the tracks which can be raced on. It was decided in 1990 that no race track shall have a straight more than 2km long, so the chicanes were added.

I heard that the chicanes were added because some cars could top 400 KM/H.
The reason was some safety concern, the cars broke down on high speeds.
Or thats what Wikipedia says.

I actually have an appreciation for both the chicane and non-chicane version. With the chicane version, it is a an excellent way to determine the inept and cheating from the fair headed and skilled (Plus, braking skills be also a necessary item to be a competitive player). Whilst the non-chicane versions, well, it's an excellent track for pure unadulterated high speed fun (which is the whole point of racing! Seeing and running really really fast and powerful cars!).

Still, it is most interesting to see that the majority favor a chicane Sarthe. Interesting. :)

That, and imagine having a tire puncture or suspension failure at those speeds.

Not even Schumacher behind the wheel will walk away from the wreck on his own, or survive it.

La Sarthe without chicane is to much easy:tdown:Lemans 2009 too much chicane cuts:tdown:I love La Sarthe 2005 with chicane!👍

If the car is quick enough, Mulsanne Kink and Mulsanne Corner can get very tricky. Mulsanne Kink especially can get very tricky at 230MPH.

Unchicaned is also more fun I find for online battles of more than 3 people. Although even with just two its great, the back and forth battle on Mulsanne determines who is in front at Indianapolis and the Porsche Curves, so it becomes a strategic battle on Mulsanne. Sometimes it pays not to overtake a car as soon as possible.

I can't fathom why it was so difficult to include the no chicaned version with weather and time change...

I'll like 2005 no chicane as its easier to see you car when u drag race the the mulsanne straight. Also I love driving the citreon concept in reverse down the straight. Every one goes WTF?!

400 kmh!?? :nervous:

Eep, those definately are scary speeds to reach, not even a NASCAR can reach those speeds in Talladega (provided you remove the restrictor plate).

i think it would be sweet if they added a 67 version to enjoy the 20 mil cars  💡

Mmmmm, yes. :D That would have been very nice indeed.

Recent trends show that PD won't model a piece of track if it doesn't currently exist in real life though. :ouch: Either because they have no imagination or don't want to look at old photos and videos to make the older layouts of tracks. Who knows for sure though...

I love Le Sarthe, 2009 being being my fav, & it only comes second to The Nordschleife for me.

:D

I personally like the '05 no chicane course, less margin for error, less chance of online cheaters and a much more classic look.

FYI I just finished the A-Spec Le Mans 24 hour though, and to be very honest I would rather cut off my right thumb then have to drive that track again anytime soon.

I also have started to like the 2005 version, because of the same reasons you said.

By the way, Congratulations for finishing the 24H Le Mans.
