Basically on GT5 one thing I liked how there was no shortage of cars, you were given plenty of them as for each race series you completed you got a car. I really liked this as it meant you got a nice variety of cars to race in. I'm half way through the A league and I've won literally like 5 cars through the career itself.

Really does seem like the game is orientated towards the micro-transactions in order to build up a collection like on GT5 :(

Not really.

The cars you get are useful to clear events in the following level - which makes a very welcome change in GT. You can probably reach the end of the (current) game without ever having to buy a second car - I've bought two (a GT-R and a shifter kart) and I'm still up nearly a million credits.

You get a car for half the stars on a level, another for all the stars, one for passing the licence and another for golding the licence. That's four on Novice alone and another four on National B - without including the car you'll win for the first stage of Goodwood (and there's 5 stages in total).

It seems a long standing tradition perhaps at the outset of a new Gran Turismo, to complain about not having enough credits. At least it seems that way since I've been playing (GT4), and my husband says even before (think he started with 2 or 3).

And then eventually, you wind up with more than you need.

Everyone's always anxious for more sooner in the beginning of anything I think.

Microtransactions (aka buying credits) don't seem to be half as prominent in GT6 as in some other video games.
And frankly I think they're there just for people who have more money than patience at the beginning starting out!
In other words, they're especially for the people who complain about not having enough credits to start out with!

Also, what Famine said occurred to me as I started winning cars.
I wasn't really worried about having to buy cars to complete stuff, as I have the gamestop anniversary cars, and I've already used a couple of those to complete stuff. But I did notice that the 1st 2 prize cars I got, would be useful for other stuff I saw upcoming. Even so, looks like without the prize cars you can afford most of what you need as you go along just by getting credits from races. Just that you wouldn't be rolling in it, you'd be cutting it pretty close. Which is what I think some people enjoy - working with a budget is part of the game for some.

Not to say I'm pleased with the prize car list in comparison just generally speaking. Seems rather dull - in terms of my car preferences.
But yeah, probably more useful for completing the career events.

I'd rather a small assortment of useful cars than a random amount of cars pulled out of a hat during a drinking binge (Thank you for giving me the... Hyundai for winning the Supercar Championship. And this... DeLorean for winning this classic supercar championship). I'd obviously rather have GT2's system, but this one is at least an improvement from before.

I imagine this is a popular view.

But I'm one of those people who would actually prefer prize cars decided by Gran Turismo game designers after they get all tanked up & start choosing stuff because they're feeling silly.

:sly: :guilty: ;)

Idk what kind of a life you're about but nobody just pulls stuff out of a hat to make a decision. I'd rather a one word comment than a half paragraph written during a drinking binge.

You may not get a car for every single race screen completion but you get 1 when you complete a license test and another for completing the licenses with all gold. side missions, free gift concept super car with quad exhaust.

It's interesting, because you responded to my post with such indignation; but gave no evidence that you really understood what it (or the specific examples I mentioned) meant.

I am already bored of the game for the most part. You don't win enough credits to get all the cars you need and you cant win some of the more expensive ones like you did in the older GTs.

I am not "grinding" for credits for days and days to get credits.

I am up to 30-35 percent complete. Theres no short race to get a lot of credits from like in the past.

I have played GT since GT1. I haven't been this disappointed in a GT game before.

If you skip the races that require a car that you don't have, odds are that later on you'll get something as a prize that can be used.

I Just entered the I-B events (everything gold thus far except for the 100 karts and electric car, I'm hoping to get one for a prize at some point), the only car I've bought so far was a Civic, for the one make race and the 90's challenge. Moral of the story here, I haven't needed to buy anything really (the 86 Anni came in handy), I just save the money for when "you" want to buy something.

While I agree the prize cars rewarded are much more useful especially early in the game there is a major discrepancy even from GT5 as I believe there were well over 130 total prize cars available to be won through the various challenges, special events, etc...as well both A-Spec / B-Spec and that is not counting level tickets. I would assume more will become available as more features are added / Vision GT etc...however the numbers are not even close IMO

Although there certainly is far fewer reward cars than in GT5, I myself rarely ever got behind the wheel of many of them. Sure, I won them and was happy to have them, but most just sat in the garage. Of course there were some that I did race in for fun, but I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing that there are less prize cars. It's a different game. Of course they could change this, so who knows.

Like others, I don't see what the big fuss is. Now having agonize over what used cars you might need, and having almost ever car available for sale at any time...

Think about it people.

I could have easily progressed as far as I have buying fewer cars than I did. The initial required purchase is useful for so many of the races. Most the prize cars are useful too, requiring very few required purchases. I think the only cars I had to buy, was a Kart, and a 90's Japanese. I bought an S2000.

I am at 43% progress and have used a Skyline R34 GTR and a R35 GTR touring car for 90% of the races. Yes it can be done using the same car for a lot of the time.

But...

There are what-way over 1,000 cars in the game?

I would like to be able to drive and experience more cars in the game. Then add the ones that I like to the favorites list.

Theres not enough credits to be won to do that though and you don't win many cars to try out.

There was a few cars in GT5 that surprised the hell out of me because they were a lot of fun to drive.

I really enjoy the new car earning system cause the old system gave so many useless cars thatno one used but there were exceptions of some sick cara you got but thats all...

Personally the new system gives mch better cars for future events and i really feel like i earned them then getting drowned is bs cars

That gets me is so many of the cars are identical except for the badgeing or year.

Really now...

Mow many Miatas or RX-7s does anyone need?

Then when it comes to US cars, so little to choose from.

Because first everyone forgets this is a Japanese game and foreign unlike Forza it has good american cars cause its american.... Honestly cut PD some slack bro they gotta go across the planet for our cars unlike there and Europe market
