While doing the Dream car championship - Amateur, I wrote this out. I was running the Altezza LM Car (Auto gearing at level 31). I seem to remember a detailed breakdown of Cote D'Azur done by someone else.

Enjoy.

From the Starting line, accelerate up over hte hill, moving through the gears to 5th gear. Moving all the way to the far outside of the track. Get heavy on the brakes, downshifting to take the first hairpin in 2nd gear, easy on the throttle. once clear of the corner, get back on the gas heavyily. The second turn, a sharp right hand 90, taken in 3rd gear, easy on the throttle. The fourth turn is another sharp right hander, except it’s taken in fourth gear, fairly heavy on the throttle. The fifth turn, a decreasing radius left turn, I take by getting hard on the brakes and down shifting to 3rd from 5th gear. Cranking the wheel in the midst of braking and shifting. This kicks the backend out, and allows you to get back on the throttle much quicker. Back on the throttle heavily, and moving up through the gears to fifth. The next turn (6th turn) can be taken wide open. Keep your two right tires on the white line approaching the corner, just before the peak of the hill (under the bridge), crank the wheel all the way to the left. You should ride the rumble strip around the corner, and moving back across the track to kiss the outside rumble strip. Keeping the car in 5th gear, accelerate towards the corkscrew. Just before you peak the hill, get heavy on the brakes, down shifting to third gear. Keep braking in a straight line. Any turning at this point will cause you to slide into the wall. As soon as you have scrubbed off enough speed, turn left and roll over the top of the corkscrew. As soon as you clear the crest of the hill, get back on the gas. Moving up to 4th gear. You’ll brush the rumble strip on the outside of the middle of the corkscrew. Ease the steering all the way to the left, and easy on the throttle as you accelerate down the hill. Kiss the rumble strip on the inside of the next turn (an easy left hander approaching the bottom of the corkscrew. Open the throttle up, moving up to 5th gear. The next turn can be taken in fourth, I prefer it taken in 3rd. It’s a tight right hander. I take it a bit slow, as I’ve slid into the dirt, and been forced into pit lane on a number of occasions. Once clear of the corner, open it up and move back to 4th gear. The last corner is a very tight left hander (about 120 degrees). All the ways to the right side of the track, and brake in a straight line. If you turn while braking, you mimic the Shelby Cobra and slide off into the dirt. I take this corner in second gear, and get back on the gas in a smooth, fluid movement from braking to accelerating. Try not to slam the throttle down, as it throws nearly any car sideways. Accelerate up through the gears, and pass the finish line.

If anyone has corrections or additions let me know, I'll add them in.

A "More detail than needed" O

AO: I ran the S6 test over the weeked (Laguna in the Oreca Viper). Laguna is an easy track to get around. It's a hard track to get around extrememly quickly. This track is ALL ABOUT late-apexing your corners. It's amazing how much more speed you can carry if you hit your turn-in points correctly (which is not easy). I did eventually silver that test, but it took many tries. Here's a couple of comments:

1) The first turn actually has two segments, the second tighter than the first. Get the car rotated early on and stay easy on the throttle much longer than you think you should have to. For entry, in fact, I usually go all the way over to the right side of the apron near the wall. Angle left then get hard on the brakes while still on the apron. You want to just brush the end of the apron with your right side tires. This should place you well into the first segment and ready to ease into the gas (second gear).

2) Avoid running completely over any of the inside curbs. They are fairly steep and will nearly always launch you off the outside of the exit. Just brush them.

3) The two turns following the Corkscrew can be taken much more quickly than you would think. They make up for the last turn which must be taken at a crawl.

4) I find the left-hander #5 (at the base of the hill before the Corkscrew) very difficult to get perfectly. It can be taken almost wide open but you have to nail the turn-in perfectly. In fact on my passing lap, I thought I would fail because I turned in too early and ran over the inside curb badly. In viewing the replay, I saw that the only reason I didn't fail is that I went airborne and flew entirely over the kittylitter, landing on the curbing. Since my wheels never touched dirt it didn't shut me down.

One item I'd like to hear about is your braking/turn-in points. Which markers do you use? Turn 5, in particular.

Thanks for the writeups. I may start as well; it's interesting to see how others run the tracks.
