They haven't updated the extra menu car collection! Ii think thays the first time thats happend in an update. Its a great way to earn a 6 start ticket for us car collectors. Why PD?
It's the third time in five updates. 1.59 and 1.61 also had no Extra Menu Book.
I don't understand why they give us a limited race spec Mazda roadster that we cannot do anything with, no power mods, no suspension mods, no transmission mods, nothing ....?
This is, hilariously, not explained by PD, but seems to be a temporary thing for some reason.

That Opel and my Fanatec DD are a total disaster combo 🤦🏻‍♂️ How the hell can they release an update without even testing it with the wheel?!
Wheel is shaking like crazy

I can't say if it's specific to the update or not, but they had the car available to the public in Berlin, 16 of us spent 20 minutes qualifying it, and 12 of us raced it in a recording, all on Fanatec GT DD Extreme and without issues.

Except for the guy who couldn't change his view.

Why the Roadster 12R is not (yet) tunable (Japanese): https://car.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/2042832.html

This reminds me of BMW M4 Coupe at GT6's launch, back it didn't yet have an interior. (It was tunable in 1.14.)

As a RHD car, this one is not a UK or Japan (or Australia) model, and is likely to be either EU or US, but I got bored at that point because CVTs make me sleepy so I stopped caring what was available with what and how.
Ermmmmmmmmmm... 🤔
checks car on driveway - notes wheel on right hand side...

Seems to be explained elsewhere - see post above

One of the drivers had that view change problem before the second race in London I think (the driver on the far right). I remember watching the team having to help him out.

Please explain how this is a temporary thing, that the new Mazda 12R is not tuneable
The Impress people in Japan have done a feature on the whole thing, presumably with the special access they often have (there's a whole bunch of PD HQ shots), and in it they say that the details aren't disclosed because the car is still in development, and that the car can't be tuned for "a certain period" because MSR wants people to enjoy the car in its as-is state.

PD has communicated none of this, nor do we know what the certain period is. I'd guess either one update or until the car is actually delivered to customers.

Please explain how this is a temporary thing, that the new Mazda 12R is not tuneable
According to some japanese website (no idea if true/official):

Because it is based on the pre-release Roadster 12R development vehicle, its specifications have not been disclosed, and there are some differences between the in-game vehicle and the commercially available vehicle. Furthermore, in order to allow players to experience the Roadster 12R in its raw form first, tuning will not be possible for a certain period of time after its addition in the update.

edit Famine just posted it also

I think the thing I am most excited about besides the engine swaps is that they fixed the new Corvette! I was doing a time trial at LeMans and the battery died half way through the track. I was very disappointed and wasn't going to use it anymore. Now I have a use for it with the changes here

What kind of crap is this again?

A VGT that you can't use anywhere (okay, we're used to that by now), a sports convertible for 120,000 that can't be tuned, a family sedan that can only be used in certain races starting at 600PP, and whose rear end is the ugliest I've ever seen, another damn SUV (I finally want station wagons), and a Japanese Jeep copy.

Those cars were really worth it.

All in all, it looks like another hastily thrown-together update that completely ignored user requests.

Well done, PD.

I'm starting to see a bleak future for GT8 if these are the cars that are supposed to showcase the game.

A Nissan Skyline, Subaru Impreza, or any Japanese K-Cars won't be able to keep the game high forever.

The only car I was interested in, the Mazda has no upgrade parts other than tires 🙁

The Elantra is front wheel drive as well 🤣

In hindsight I did say...
So I actually dared hoped PD would let us do something really 'special' with this 'special' 12R

...And let us make it visually resemble that of the Super Taikyu Racing car it’s based on. But I should know better, you take a plunge when you start to hope for anything good these days, but I did it anyway.

This is as far as I got. PD went through the trouble of making the widebody aesthetically similar along with the aero parts, but unfortunately no hard top though.

If you haven’t installed the update already, you may be thinking, 'ah well that’s not too bad it’s the Super Taikyu racing version without the roof, so what?'

Well, you’ll have to leave what you know about the official Racing Roadster 12R’s performance figures at the door, because it gets even worse for the roadster!

When I saw the null figures for its weight and BHP readings, I thought “oh boy”. Brought it to the tune shop and my fears were realized. Aside from installing power restrictor, ballast and adjustable aero, you cannot tune the Roadster 12R mechanically what so ever.

Now, I knew this 12R was going to be a clone, but I didn’t think it would be a mechanically useless one as well! Can a free gift ever feel like a burden? I’d post a meme right now, but I’ll leave it alone….Damn it PD.:banghead:

So, it turns out the only car I was looking forward to in this 1.63 update…..

Was the only car I was looking forward to in this 1.63 update.

The Elantra N, has everything I ‘hoped’ going for it in this update. It’s the reason alone why I now finally own a Hyundai at all in GT7, specifically two now.

From the short sessions I’ve had with it in game, the Elantra N in GT7 is quite the performer and, given the right tuning, it would have no problem simulating the performance accredited to it’s TCR sibling.

Personally, I’ll leave the TCR/Gr.4 criteria to be filled by the official one. I can only ‘Hope’ (Damn I'm using that word again) we’ll see some actual TCR’s in the GT series one day.

Otherwise, the real-life touring car categories below that of GR.4/GT4/TCR hardly exist in GT7. It doesn’t help that PD have been grooming Gr.4 to facilitate and balance cars reminiscent to an Elantra N Cup car into it either. Most likely because the current physics themselves rule out the idea of distinguishing them in the first place. But that’s where we can make a difference. Or not. Whatever, more power to us in any case. Above all very happy with the Elantra!:D

Is it just me or is the gearing unnaturally quick?
There is no gears, is a CVT transmission. Its a simulation of “gears” (presetted ratios)

The RAV4 maxed out can reach 414 BHP and rev to 9k rpm. Probably the best SUV to be included in an update, since it has 4WD with Torque Distribution, and no CVT or Hybrid system to hinder it.

Hope it gets an engine swap in the future. :D
420hp fully tuned
