Nicest part of hell
Has anyone else noticed the the Lamborghini Avantador from the DLC car pack has a ridiculously high wind noise? At only 150 km/h the wind is louder than when driving the XJR-9 at over 350 km/h.

First I thought its just me or maybe the engine sound of the other car blocks out the wind noise so I tried top speed with a few cars and then clutched out and listened carefully.
No doubt, the wind noise of the Avantador is crazy. :dunce:

I have this problem on pretty much every car from the roof/hood cam. I wish they would turn it back down or give us an option. I can't hear my engine in some cars.

+1. Th new wind noise is a nice addition, but it can be a bit drastic at times:

It is indeed pretty loud, another problem is that the flaps don't rise when at the appropriate speed/

Don't you have to be going incredibly fast, like 180+ mph, in real life when the wind noise become really powerful?

I don't know about interior view as I don't use it but the problem with roof cam is they're trying to simulate the wind noise as you would hear if if you were sat on top of the car driving it. The problem is of course we're not doing that, we're driving a virtual car with a camera on the roof (or slightly different position depending on the car) so we don't need the extreme wind noise that we would get physically in the real world.

It would be better if they at least did it as if it's what a camera would record. One of the worst for me is the F1 cars. Watch any video of a real F1 car from the T-cam above the head and take note of the level of wind noise.

Now take one of the Ferrari's out in GT5, drive from the T-Cam view and see how unbearable the wind noise is.

I can do 60 on the parkway and hear the wind noise in my lancer, do you guys serious think doing over 150 your not going to hear wind? The wind noise is OK in my opinion, however it would be nice if they made the option to adjust it yourself.

Changing the audio setup does change things a bit.
On large theater the sounds are as they would be in real life. Sound isn't changed to stay at a certain volume.

On standard the sounds are scaled to have an almost constant volume. So when you have a silent car the sound is turned up, and when you drive a loud car the sound is turned down. This can make wind sound very loud compared to the sound on louder cars (the XJR9 is incredibly loud).

Small theater is somewhere between standard and large theater.

I've sat in a Gallardo that went about 130km/h, max was about 160km/h due to speed limit, but at around 130 I could barely hear the noise of the engine as well, so I'm not so sure..maybe it is intended to work like that In the game as well? No one really knows unless they sat in a real Aventador going 150km/h but from
my experience, wind noise at 150 being louder than the engine noise in the Aventador is normal.

Again, this is through experience from a Gallardo.

It's because Jaguar's race exhaust is much louder than Aventador stock exhaust.

This was my thought, too. Try one of the other dynamic range settings, see what happens.

The larger theater setting makes the wind noise very realalistc however I can barely hear my car idle so I use small theater.

The wind noise is fine to me. I went more than 200km/h in my own car and the noise starts at 140 km/h and yes it sounds loud. (BMW 320i) Real life.

And this is why I love my Surround Sound. Haven't experienced any of these sound problems.

The wind noise is pretty realistic though at the higher speeds... I've driven snowmobiles at 110+ mph (probably the closest thing i can think of to being on the roof of a car) and the wind is unbelievably powerful and loud. Ever been in a hurricane? That's not even 100mph and you can hear that whipping around like crazy.

I think the wind noise is perfect. Now, the game needs way more tire noise, and lower flywheel whine & add realistic turbo sound. Then we have the perfect game.

Also bring back the camera shake, cockpit view is so boring and sterile now...

And please people stop complaining against the good things PD is doing. Maybe the cockpit view wind noise needs to be turn down a bit. but leave it like it is for the other camera views.

EDIT: Here's the thing. GT5 should allow users to set the sound volume individually for engine, tire squeal, tire noise, wind noise, etc.

I dont think there is a problem with the wind noise, but rather a ratio of the engine/other sounds in relation.
The Aventador for instance doesn't take long before the wind noise completely over shadows any other sound, including that V12 that is screaming right over your shoulder!
Now I've never driven one (Oh how I wish) but every magazine say that the engine noise coming from right behind you is unbelievable! I realise it would get drowned out the faster you go, but not to the point were you cant even here it bouncing off the limiter.

I have rear speakers 7.1 and I constantly hear the engine noise. On my 5.1 that's not the case once I hit 180 I can't hear nothing. It comes down to your set up. My Samsung 7.1 is on another level compared to my Pioneer.
