I will shortly be renting a room at my best friends place. He has a PS3 also and we plan to play various games via LAN.

Can LAN play be achieved wirelessly and if so does this work with GT5 Prologue?

Also as we will be both sharing an internet connection (Virgin) will we both be able to play online at the same time; either playing the same game (GT5 prologue) or different games.

Thanks in advance.

I just bought a second PS3 for the bedroom and We play online at the same time. I have only tried Battlefield 1943 and it works fine. I think I have a 7MB DSL line and I don't have any issues even with a Imac on the internet, DirectTV DVR/OnDemand, and 3 iphones sharing the same internet connection. The first PS3 is "wired" to the router while the second PS3 is wireless in the bedroom. My wireless router is an N type Gigabit.

My brother and I both have PS3's connected to the same home network, and we've played BF1943, Worms, Wipeout HD (basically any PSN games I've got because I share them with him) online together. We also played Burnout Paradise over the internet in the same house, but as far as I know none of these games have LAN options, just internet.

However, we tried to play Rainbow Six Vegas 2 via LAN (as it has the option), and it didn't work, then again, playing over the internet didn't work either. The problem with that is, RSV2 never, ever works online anyway, so that shouldn't come as a surprise.

So in other words, to back up jswilli1, you can have two PS3's on the same Wifi network and play online on different or the same games, though you might need to play around with your router's NAT settings (network address translation, port mapping, port forwarding, whatever it calls it (please don't ask me how, I really can't remember and when I first did it I just googled 'PS3 port mapping' or something!)), but you might not.

Oh yeah, my router doesn't do uPNP which is probably why I had to do all that stuff.

And you can't LAN GT5 prologue, you might get lucky if you both try to join a very empty online race at the same time, though.

For GT5P just pic which race you want to run against your friend and both start at the same time. You should be matched up at the same time, I raced with friends online and we just send message: GO. Good Luck..

Must be a British thing, I've only had one or two problems with RSV2.
