Laptop HDD benchmarks?

Can anyone link me to a page where laptop hard drive benchmark results are compared to each other? I can find a few desktop ones, but laptops I cannot find...

The laptop I'm looking at, as mentioned in another thread previously, is this. It doesn't say much more than it's a "160GB SATA Hard Drive", which, as far as I know, is one of the largest capacity laptop hard drives to date. But is it actually any quicker at loading applications than these older machines?

Using HD Tach, this 4 year-old Dell has a Burst Speed of 82mb/s, and a Read Speed of 22.8mb/s. The year-and-a-half old £1k Vaio is pretty much just as slow at loading everything, which is making me create this thread. I cannot prove it as the test makes the PC have a fatal crash... Maybe the Vaio was just a bad purchase because it still contained older hardware in it...?

Will anyone help me on this issue? This will make me decide whether to consider buying a desktop instead, as our 5 year-old one is nearly quicker than the two laptops put together...

But wouldn't that have the exact same issues if I were to run Boot Camp and run Windows applications? I NEED Windows, just to make College work easier...
 
Thank you! Exactly what I need.

I'll email Novatech as soon as I can to ask which SATA drive they use in that notebook. Either way, they seem to be fairly quick - about the same as the desktop. But as you say, other components would affect the speed too, but it should be fine with those specifications.

Edit: They seem to be Fujitsu, from the looks the worst of the bunch, but they can be generic...

That's not the point by me...

I'm just saying you could get a Mac with a Mac OS and still have boot camp, but the programs you need to use Windows are also available in a Mac OS, just most likely a different name.
 
So then why pay extra to use the exact same programs you're going to use in Windows just with a different name?

Personally, regarding Hard drives, does it really matter anymore? You can buy pretty big and fast external hard drives for peanuts now anyway.

I probably wont be able to afford anything until these are all the rage anyway.

Not to mention you can seamlessly use your documents on any other PC if you use one.
