Latest News goes away when signed in?

I'm sure its supposed to go away, but I like having it. Is there a way to enable it, or is it because of the avatars?

Yep, the sidebar isn't displayed to signed-in users. A more robust way to look at the latest active threads is available to members by clicking on "New Posts" in the yellow box at the top right of the page.
