So I was thinking last night (won't have a chance to fire up hte PS3 until tomorrow) about the new races and the standing start. Would you get a better start with TCS on, or just by controlling throttle? Would ASM help? What about TQ distribution? See, now that you can dial this all in with the wheel and controller in real time, I think it would be good to maybe have some of these settings turned on (or up) for the standing start, and then once you are under way, you adjust things back to the way you want for the actual race. Thoughts/Ideas?

Well judging by the way launching in GT4 goes you need some kinda of TC, if you want the best launch off the line. Mind you that's for things like the 1000m sprint. But I'd think a bit of TC would be good.

Unless you get the warmup lap and warming the tires actually does something, then maybe not as you'd have some heat in the rear tires. 👍

in the 750pp races i always have traction control set to 1, because its impossible to exit the chicane @ suzuka without spinning the tires in 2nd gear. Works great for the grid starts too

So far it seems to be better to be at the back as you get punted off at the first corner otherwise :-)

I found that the GT-R with traction control on 1 was easier to get off the line than trying to do it manually. Perhaps I need practice!

you can turn tcs on and off on the fly. So you could turn it on for the launch, then turn it off once you're going...

That's what I was thinking of doing, just wondering if anyone else has started doing this, or if it's not really worth it for the online races.

I don't use TCS, but i set the car up in a way that lets me floor it from the off. For example, my car of choice on the PP750 races is the S2000, and I've found that if i start in 2nd i can start faster than pretty much any of the other cars, especially the other Amuse cars.

I think a bit of wheelspin is fine in GT5P, you don't seem to be punished as much as in GT4

I agree. I use second gear to take off. Give it 75% throttle at first then once you've done 60ft or so mash it. When I do this, the engine boggs down alittle but rockets past everyone once it hits powerband, and all without wheel spin. This method will surpass TC with 100% throttle using 1st gear.

Yeah that too!

LOL!

I use a Mustang on 600PP and I start on pole. When the lights turn green the car bogs down a bit but once it hits it's powerband.... whoooosh!!!!

I've already gone from 1st to 12th all in the space of 100 yards!
Bet no-one can do THAT with full throttle!

Hehehehe!

;)

No TC for me. I just put my Amuse S2000 in 2nd gear and let her rip. If this was RL I would probably blind half the field behind me. Quick shifting with the clutch also helps too.

If PD would give us pedal axis adjustments, you could take off a lot quicker just using the clutch and good throttle control.

I can no longer stomach TCS.
