We have 3 mowers here, a late '70s Snapper rider(runs great), a newer Snapper push, and an '80s Lawnboy push.

We got the mulching attachments on them, works great.

I tried the rider once, and almost took out our chainlink fence cause the brake thingy...there's a pedal for the brake/clutch, and then one for brake/aux or something like that, and if you aren't on a pedal you are moving. That got me twisted, I ended up popping a wheelie and heading strait towards the fence...luckily I was in 1st so it was slow speed and my dad caught up and jammed on the brakes.
That was several years ago.
My dad and my bro mow. I don't. It's not that I'm lazy, I just don't want to screw it up.
Plus my allergies really suck and I would in bad shape after cutting the grass.

Ohh, and about what mowers we use, it depends on the weather. If it has rained recently the rider is not a choice. It'll leave ruts and be a pain. So then it's the pushers. If it's good weather then usually my dad's on the rider and my bro mans one of the pushes, my bro never does the rider.

Ohh, and my dad has an old 626 shift nob on the rider. It's cool.

I have one of those big industrial sized lawnmowers or something like that. lol

It goes pretty fast and you have to squeeze either the left or right handle depending on what direction you want to go. It's fun, I only wish I had a bigger yard to use it more. :(

I lived someplace about 6 years ago that had about 30 square feet of lawn. For all the trouble, I paid a lawn service 4 dollars every 2 weeks on rainy seasons, and 4 weeks on non-rainy stuff to take care of the job.

I have a lot more lawn, and not as much money now. Besides, it's a good way to make sure I'm not stuck doing laundry or bathrooms with the missus.

My wife used to mow the lawn before I could. Then on Saturday morning I'd have to clean. Ugh. I remember coming home on Friday, a half hour after her, and see her mowing the lawn. I had to lay down the law ;)

Actually, when it comes to lawn mowing, I prefer to support illegal immigration - I hire immigrants to mow my lawn.

Some of you people make me sick, complaining about mowing your little half acre yards. I have 4 acres of lawn to mow, and actually it isn't that bad. We have both a riding mower and a push mower, but up until a year or so ago I had to use the push because according to my dad "I want the neighbors to see that I have a hardworking son." In the end, I prefer a push mower though, it does a much better job, and the lawn looks a lot neater when all is said and done.

hell ill fire the mower up at 3:00am and mow the lawn (well if it were lighter out) ...

Yeah - NSW EPA Noise Pollution regulations don't allow powered lawn mowers to be run before, I think, 8am on the weekend. Very civilised.

It's a pretty quiet street - I think anyone running a mower before time would be dealt with pretty severely by the residents. Helps that the local police station's all of 400 metres away.

We don't have much grass, so it's a Flymo for us.

The MINUTE we buy property with a large paddock, I'll be straight down to the tractor shop though! I love driving those kinds of things.
