Le Mans Series Fuji 1000 Kilometers Qualifying

Rules
Technical/Sporting Rules
* The car must remain stock as won/purchased. Chassis stiffening, chassis refreshes and oil changes are allowed.
* LMP1 entries must add 25 kilograms of ballast to the car’s weight. (2006 LMP1 cars are running at 925 kg.)
* Stability management (ASM) must be set to 0. Traction control (TCS) may be set to 1, at the driver’s discretion, but may not be set any higher.
* Suspension, aerodynamic and gear settings may be changed at the driver’s discretion.
* Only R1 (super-hard), R2 (hard) and R3 (medium) compound tires are allowed during the qualifying and race. R4 (soft) and R5 (super-soft) compound tires may not be used.
* Standard on-line racing rules apply. Drivers must keep at least two wheels on the track/kerbs at all times (no wall-riding, grass/track cutting, etc.). Avoid unnecessary contact with the slower AI cars. NOTE: If you miss the chicane during the race, you must come to a complete stop before continuing, in order to negate any advantage from cutting the chicane. In qualifying, if you miss the chicane, the lap time is not valid.

Qualifying Procedure
* Qualifying will take place from Monday, May 1 to Friday, May 5. In Gran Turismo mode, drivers will go into World Circuits/Fuji Speedway 90’s/Practice. Drivers will post their best single lap time, including sector times, in the forum thread. Drivers may post as many qualifying laps as they wish. Different tire compounds (R1 – R3) and suspension/aerodynamic set-ups may be used for qualifying.
* After qualifying, time adjustments will be made to the race times based on qualifying position. Each position/row lower on the grid will be an extra half-second/second added to the race times. (Example: 2nd fastest qualifier: +0.5 sec. / Row 2: +1.0 sec. / Row 3: +2.0 sec. to race time)
* NOTE: If you submit a race time before the end of qualifying, your qualifying attempt is considered over and no more lap times may be posted.

Dark Elite / Audi R8 #1 / Audi Sport Team Joest
T1 / 0'18.365
T2 / 0'35.795
T3 / 0'55.145
Lap Time / 1'09.347

Done a preliminary test with the ballast, it's not too bad on stock settings (All I did was add the 25kg and turn off the aids), and it resulted in a 1'09.347. Checking the splits now...

EDIT - In response to post #4, :) it's not as bad as I thought, then!
(I'm not posting until everyone has a slot for their time, it makes it easier to compare.)
My first corner must be a little slow... You either get it right or very wrong, I've found.

EDIT2 - Current Fastest Time / 1'08.439 (Post #22)

Thanks guys. Less than half a second between you two. Sounds like another ESES Laguna qualifying battle. (fingers crossed that happens)

I meant to run some laps last night, but fell asleep doing laundry and didn't wake up until 8:20 this morning. Good thing the boss is out this week... :D Will put in some laps tonight. You two better look behind you. :)

Okay, never mind. The best I've been able to come up with is:

#13 Courage - Mugen : T1: 18.417 / T2: 36.579 / T3: 55.614 / Lap: 1'09.993

If I could just string together one perfect lap, I'd be right up there. It's just that I screw up the braking for the first corner and lose time and then run the rest of the lap perfectly. Or, I run the first part of the lap perfectly and screw up at the final chicane. :banghead: 🤬

I feel your pain, Mulsanne, I'm doing exactly the same. Often I screw up the first corner, badly, and manage to come close to beating my ghost anyway - so there's clearly a lot of time in there, if you could just get the 'perfect lap'! :)

Come on guys, let's get some times in before it's too late for me to try and fight back 👍

DE

:scared: Egads - every one is ssoo fast. Did some runs last night. Best i could get was a 10.4xx. The turn 2 area is my bane, that turn is narrow and tight. Its hard to hit right, either you brake too early and loose time or to late and its in the dirt. Will be running a final run tonight then put up my time. :nervous:

Dark Elite / Audi R8 #1 / Audi Sport Team Joest
T1 / 0'18.374
T2 / 0'35.709
T3 / 0'54.719
Lap Time / 1'08.836

Sorry guys, but I wanted a time under 1'09 and I knew I could do it. This felt pretty quick, but I haven't given the car an oil change and I think there's more to be had. :)

DE

DRIVEN, good to see you! :) You know, you can re-post a faster time when you turn one. I know there's more speed there. :)

Oh God, DE, if you haven't changed the oil yet, we're all really screwed. :nervous: :) Good lap time. I think I could match it if I could just string together one perfect lap. This place doesn't look that challenging on paper, but the hard braking zones at Daiichi (first corner), Suntory (left-right) and the chicane are messing with me. Plus, I haven't been able to find the right line through the 100R and the Hair Pin.

I've done a lap of 1'09.6-something, but I can't for the life of me find the paper I wrote the split times on. So I'll post that lap as soon as I find it.

EDIT: ONE MORE DAY GUYS!!! C'mon, let's see some times!

Looks like I might have to change the oil after all... Just checking, not doubting you in any way, but were you on R3s at 925kg? And did you change the oil? Because if you didn't, I'm not going to :p

I'll have a new time soon.

Time was made with R3 at 925kg and oil changed. I use default car setting with no ASM and TSM at 1. This was the first time I have used the R8 and I put about 60 to 70 miles on it. The car needs some work. I put 2 or 3 lips on the other car's(first time on them too) and liked the R8 the most.

Ah, TCS1 is probably where I'm losing out. I've just tried a few more laps, couldn't do anything special with them, but I'm still going. I'll get something new in half an hour, I hope.

here are my times:grumpy:

T1: 0'18,361
T2: 0'36,165
T3: 0'55,717

Lap: 1'09,903

This is a terrible time for the R8, but I wanted to make sure I got something posted today.

18.524
36.460
56.496
1'10.631

I know where I lost my time, so hopefully I'll get a chance to run more laps today and come back with a better time.

T1 / 0'18.142
T2 / 0'35.529
T3 / 0'54.548
Lap Time / 1'08.439

At last, I concede an oil change... Now with 40 more horsepower, I managed a pretty good lap, and one that I'm happy with. And I had so much fun doing it, too! :) 👍

And still no traction control :p :dopey:

show us your great skills:bowdown:

Okay, Schumacher...you just had to do another lap, didn't you? :) Good job. But still 4:20 left to go.

Here's my best effort:
T1: 18.246
T2: 35.801
T3: 54.874
Lap: 1'09.021

Okay, no more intervals until this thing is over. Every time I do the math and post the intervals, you guys run quicker and I have to do them all over again. :)

Just kidding. Good lap, stidriver. 👍

Just over two hours to go!

Okay, I'm signing off for the night. So if anyone is still out there trying to improve their times, you have just about an hour to do it. Any time before 2359 hrs. / 11:59 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time tonight will be accepted.

But if it's over, all I can say is wow, what a qualifying session. The battle between Dark Elite and stidriver was very entertaining. 👍 👍 to both of you.

Thanks to everyone who turned in a time. Now it's time to start getting ready to do 228 quick laps. :)

OK, you win, it would take hours to beat that even if I was still awake when you posted it! (2:30am my time)

I almost wish I was living in America, then I would be able to combat that, because the deadline went to 5am here and I can't stay up all night to try and take pole, much as I'd like to! Excellent job, man, spectacular time!

Congratulations, you just took Pole Position! 👍 👍

Now let's see if you can keep it up throughout the race :)

DE

Congratulations to stidriver for a simply amazing pole position lap! 👍 👍

THANK YOU again to everyone who took part. 👍 👍

Now let's get ready for the race. :)
