What do people think of people in last who have completely screwed up their race sitting somewhere off the track? I personally don't have a problem with it, as long as they dont drift into the race, but is it just as frowned upon as leaving?

if they have totaly screwed there race over and theres more comptition then just him then i see no problem with it. i do it from time to time when ive had a horible race ill just sit off to the side at the final corner (off track of course) and see who wins.

If they're not messing up others laps then let them do what they want. Personally I'll go for some practice laps if I've ended up at the back. I might quit if I feel I've been punted too often and I'm not hosting.

+1

I am always interested in the ending of the race, but sometimes I just get too depressed because of how badly I am doing to race anymore, so I pull over and just let the race finish.

Yesterday I had an important phone call (one of my clients) coming in in the middle of a race. So I parked the car at a spot in the grass where it wouldn't hurt anybody and took the call. Note I was also host in this race, so quitting was not an option either. It's better than letting the car sit in the middle of the track. ;)

I find myself quite often parking on the verge if I can't carry on for some reason... Phone ringing, doorbell going, dog persisting on the floor, kids mithering etc...

I parked up the other day after the dog managed to pull my pedal plug out while I was full throttle and I couldn't get it plugged back in quick enough. I have no buttons assigned for throttle and brake...

I agree, parking is better than quitting.

Basically if I've messed up, then I've messed up and I have to deal with it. Most of the time people take me off the road anyway, so I don't have to park. They just do it for me.:sly:

But in instances when I spin out, I'll just park on the grass.

I think they should go back in the race, even if they still mess up and know they are half a lap behind. But if they want to wait, its fine with me because i do the same. :)

If I have a good car, I know I can get back to the front within one lap even after hitting the grass or sand multiple times.
Don't mean that I win the race, but finishing in the top even after starting way back gives me a good feeling. :)

Keep in mind that when you park your car to see the race the laptimes/grip of the frontrunners will be greatly reduced. When I'm racing in front and have to struggle for grip it's mostly due to one or more racers far far behind. (rubberband effect)

Normally if i see people like that, its a sign of relief. They may be the host, so its nice of them to stay in the game even if they know they are an epic fail.

I just lost over 100,000 credit because the host left 3 times in a row cos he kept losing.

What's the big deal with quitting? As long as I'm not hosting I'll quit to get rid of punters - it's the only surefire way to guarantee you'll get fresh opponents. Nothing worse than finding yourself in a cycle with 10 idiots. :grumpy:

Really stupid question from me here...
Since I allways finish races just for the training, how can you tell if you're the host?

Yeah Ive parked it a few times just in frustration in getting hit or just my driving.
Actually at Suzuka the other day I parked it near the chicane before the finish and just sat there, it was awesome to hear the other cars off in the distance go by the corresponding corner near there, it sounded awesome!

But yeah, that way you can still get $ for coming in, even if its last.

I think where it shows the race linup before you go on the grid, you should be the top one if your the host.

I have slow internet, i've been the host twice since i got the game... considering i've done around 50 online races at least.

If you are the host it will say "creating race" as opposed to "joining race". Ive found no rhyme or reason to the order of the starting grid, tho.

Okay, I though that pole just meant you had the least amount of PP's, or do you mean before the start positions, when it's just listing the racers?

Thank you, sorry for filling this thread with irrelevant content.

How do you know if your hosting?
Sorry for posting this worthless comment. I didn't see that someone else already answered and asked the same question.

The grid goes by your pp. If your pp is 599 and everyone else has 600, you will start out in first.

It looks like I'm having a bad forum day. First I ask a question that has already been asked and answered, and now I just did a double post.

in the last race i had i sitted at the side of the finish line, for many reasons i decided to sit and not carry on...

1. i got punted
2. i had a **** car
3. i did a quick tune without testing and it was v.bad
4. i was in last position and there was no point in me trying to catch up.

p.s. that race looked like it was fun..i think p1 to p5 crossed the line all within 1 second. iirc p1 was 7.14 and p5 was 7.15.

i fail to see how it is frowned upon? what's the problem...if they don't get in the way

I left a few races today, not as host. I was getting punted around even more than usual - I'd catch back up to the field, pass people again, only for someone to not brake and knock me straight back down to last. In those situations I'd rather quit and join a new race than let the one I'm in finish, and then race with the same idiots in the next race.

I have only had to park once.I missed the setup so bad that I was a 1 man demo team.Parked it instead of taking people out.I stayed to see who won.:)

I hardly ever quit. When I do, it's usually because another race is starting with GTP members that I don't want to miss. Besides, quitting puts you back at the starting screen with no credits and wasted time. If you park after you get punted or are doing badly, you get credits towards your next F1 car purchase :). In the meantime, I just flip over to TV and watch random stuff for five minutes.

There's no problem with it as long as they don't park in the middle of the track, even if their collision detection is off.
I usually end up parking off the side of the track to see who wins or going back to the pit lane after a disastrous lap...

I park in the pits if i have the same problems

I thought that users who parked off the track and did not quit were very considerate, regardless of their reason for doing so. I have no problem with the practice.
