How do you save the planet? If you're American chat show host Jay Leno, you get General Motors to come up with a design for a biodiesel-powered supercar.
Unveiled on the eve of the SEMA show in Las Vegas, the Ecojet Concept is the brainchild of 'Tonight Show' front man and renowned car nut Leno, and his chief mechanic, Bernard Juchli. Leno called in GM's Vice-president of Global Design Ed Welburn to assist on the project, and it was completed by GM's Design Studio in California.
The car is powered by a mid-mounted Honeywell LT-101 turbine engine producing 650bhp, and running on bio-diesel. The chassis is a modified Corvette Z06 frame and the bodyshell is a blend of carbon fibre and composites. The car's styling is designed to echo jet aircraft and Formula One racers - but the original idea was sketched on a paper napkin.
Welburn said, "This is a purpose-driven design that conveys power, capability and even danger, with a hint of Cadillac's sophisticated design vocabulary." Leno's view was slightly less on-message. "I drive it, wait for the harvest, get some corn and drive it some more," he said.
And some other news not related to the above:

Britain's "most haunted" road
Are you scared of motorways? You should be: the M6 is "Britain's most haunted road".
As you have probably noticed, it's Halloween today, and that's the perfect excuse for road builder Tarmac to reveal the results of its "Spooky Roads" survey. Top of the list was the M6, where drivers have seen everything from Roman soldiers to a phantom lorry driving the wrong way along the carriageway.
Tarmac's survey asked people to contact them with details of "mysterious sightings" on the road. In return, they were entered into a prize draw for tickets to a filming of TV programme Most Haunted Live!.
Tony Simmons of Tarmac compiled the results. “We’ve had more sightings of clarity reported from the M6 than any other road in Britain," he said.
“We originally assumed Britain’s spookiest road would turn out to be a dark lane near an ancient battlefield. But the M6 is one of Britain’s longest roads and it travels through many counties – and therefore an immense amount of history."
Only a few years ago, a survey by the Paranormal Research Organisation and sponsored by the Vauxhall Corsa reckoned that the most haunted road was the A229 in Kent.
The scariest thing we've ever seen on the M6 was the price of a ham sandwich at Stafford Services.
