Fox have just revealed the first trailer for the new Lethal Weapon TV series. The show will start this fall.

Premise:
Texas cop and former Navy SEAL Martin Riggs (Clayne Crawford) suffers the loss of his wife and baby and moves to Los Angeles to start anew. There, he gets partnered with LAPD detective Roger Murtaugh (Damon Wayans) who, having recently suffered a “minor” heart attack, must avoid any stress in his life. Based on the movie franchise.

Wonder what Shane Black has to say about it.

Probably something snarky without being wounding. Assuming here's aware of it, of course - he's off promoting The Nice Guys (which looks brilliant).

Yeah, I am going to watch it, but I really dont think it will get picked up for a second season

Well... No Gibson but i'll give this a chance.

Just saw the trailer, Damon Wayans is Murtaugh? Interesting i guess.

..I like Damon Wayans but holy hell, talk about lacking chemistry. :boggled:

So I'm guessing there won't be much "I'm too old for this ****" in this show, huh.

And the new Riggs is a charisma-DOA, at least in the trailer.

Oh boy...

I don't think it looks that bad actually.
I agree. It is a bit raw, but then again it is based off an 80's film franchise. I just don't think that it belongs on FOX to be honest. FX would be a better choice.

It looks worthy of a three episode watch to see how it goes. There is potential for this as it will be aimed at a new generation that may have never seen the movies.

^ I am not of that new generation and am literally getting too old for this 🤬. However I hope they're not going to change the scenario around completely otherwise why call it Lethal Weapon other than for the $$$?

Black cop that needs to retire with a white cop that's borderline insane. Buddy cop comedy.

That is the whole takeaway from Lethal Weapon for these big studios. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was just pitched as a buddy cop action comedy show and the studio was sitting on the rights to Lethal Weapon, so decided to take it that route. It could have been pitched as a new I, Spy but someone realized it got too close to Bill Cosby for comfort and found a new way to spin it.

I honestly expect it to go over like the new Knight Rider. Good looking white guy in a talking car. Boom! Done. Someone make up some stories to go with it. What can go wrong?
