I absolutely agree. Does anyone have a good example of another time something like this has happened? And another date be thought to be so close? Personally, I cannot think of one.

Little Big Planet. Because of a song.

I vaguely remember that now. 👍 Off I go to Google.

I only remember because I was a victim. I didn't know it had been delayed until I walked into Gamestop to pick up my copy. What made it so bad was they had some in the back room and weren't allowed to sell them. I even gave them my puppy dog eyes and they still told me to gtfo :(

I was a sad panda.

The king of all sources (Wikipedia) has provided this regarding the original LBP:

Originally intended for a release in mid-to-late October, a last-minute delay involving a licensed song in the game's soundtrack delayed the game's release worldwide.[65] It was released in North America and Japan at the end of October 2008, and in Europe at the beginning of November 2008.

It is so rare and kind of unlikely, but at least we have a precedent for a short delay.

That wouldn't be that bad if GT5 came out 2 weeks after Nov 2.

Second, Black Friday (correction) (November 26 this year) is THE DAY for shopping in the USA. Parents like myself, keep sale fliers from all the retailers for a few weeks to help guide us for gifts. If Sony made the Nov. 23 launch date, just think how many retailers would put the PS3 and GT5 on their front page! Think of the free advertising they'd get!

So, it's November 23, or bust.
...I think we can say one thing for sure, Sony will be fighting, scratching, and clawing to get their game out the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
I agree with these two. Looking the calendar over, this was my guess. Of course, this depends on whether SONY considers GT5 to be a mortal threat to their other offerings in games and movies. In that case, my guess would be an early Tuesday in February.

Guessing the date now, is a bit of the roll of the dice.

Anything to do with PD is a roll of the dice at this point but if we didn't voice our opinions and feelings on it, this site would be dead.

I think it'll be released in late November or early December because that's when the holiday shopping season begins and that's when they'll make a lot of money. Closer to Christmas doesn't make sense because while there are plenty of last-minute shoppers, the majority would have wrapped up their shopping by then.

The Friday after Thanksgiving, when many stores have huge sales. People camp out at places like Best Buy, a lot of people! The malls are absolutely jammed.

Just search black friday on youtube.

That video is kind of disgusting to me. :indiff:

But yea, Black Friday is by far the biggest shopping day in the States. Almost everyone is off of work Thursday (Thanksgiving) and Friday (Black Friday). So everyone celebrates Thanksgiving and then a LOT of people decide it is the best day to shop before Christmas. It has toned down a very small amount the last couple of years, but it is still crazy. I have never gone out that day unless I had to work.

But anyway, it would be a big deal to Sony if GT5 misses that day in the stores. So, I think it is safe to assume they will be aiming to get it in stores by that Tuesday the 23rd. Whether or not they can, that is a different story.

I am suggesting GT5 will release right after Sony releases the next blu-ray update for the PS3, from the problem that delayed GT5 by a few days.

Man, I miss Black Friday/Boxing Day deals back when they were actually worth lining up the night before for. I remember I got my 40" Samsung LCD for $500 on Boxing Day back 3 years ago and had to get my spot on Christmas afternoon and waited 20 hours. But yea, nothing beats lining up at night with a bunch of guys and freezing your toes off. :sly:

It releases on the day that it's released.
