First off, apologies if this has already been done to death - if so can a mod let me know and I will close the thread.

Secondly, I think PD have done a fantastic job with this version of the track and the online races are fantastic!

I race mainly in the 750PP class with the LM Ford GT (so sorry to anyone I have bumped there - it is accidental or domino, I really try to race clean :dunce:), and am having some success (usually in the top 5) and have seen some amazing driving. So, lets hear about your car, set up and tactics!

Car: I have the above car with weight set to min, R2 front R3 rear and downforce as much as possible. Final gearing is as low as possible to get as much acceleration as possible, I also tweak third to be a little higher than standard.

Tactics: launch in second and try to get to the inside of the track at the start, and try to hang back a little to let the first corner madness sort itself out before the real racing can start.

Through the Esses all the way to dunlop I try to maintain at least 80mph short shifting through the dunlop exit before taking Degner (I think) at around 95 - 100.

I find spoon curve a constant problem (you will often find me sitting in the gravel here) although it is I think one of the most important corners on the track as the next straight can be used for fast overtakes.

Rest of the track I wobble as little as possible :) and try to keep the power down.

So, lets hear it!!

Depending on how I feel like driving I'll use either the tuned evo or the amuse s2000, don't have the settings with me but both are full down force, R3s and as low weight as possible.

In the evo I just try to keep as smooth as possible and not lose any time through the corners (as a lot is lost to the powerful RWD cars on the straights).

In the amuse I just try to keep it in a straight line, new to using a wheel and RWD :P . I'm normally quite fast in it until I lose it on a really fast sweeping bend like the one before spoon.

I am starting to fall in love with this rack too. This and Fuji is by far my favorites now. When i started i was mostly doing HSR, mind you Gt5 P is my first GT game, actually i dident really play any racing games before, only a litle NFS and that cant really compare with GT5.

I do mostly the manufactor mini's race its the beginners section but i had some good races there, most of the rammers will be left behind already at the first curve, and then uasely only a few good drivers left to batle out for the victory.

Also i started doing some of the 500 PP on pro, i even managed to win a few of them, but still i need a lot more training before i can go up with the faster cars, on pro setting.

And you are right about the Spoon curve its really hard to get it right, i am trying to test how far to the right on the track i should be before i hit the brake, at least in standard you can touch the grass a litle when coming up over the hill, to get a more straight line for the brake in.

With the limitation of N2/S2 tyres, the 500 and 600PP races are now really hard to drive consistently so I wouldn't worry about needing more practice :) .

Before that when you could use R3 tyres it was a lot easier but no where near as much fun. I'd recommend using a 4wd car to learn how the car slides at first, evos or imprezas seem like the favourites for 600pp. If this gets a bit boring, jump in an NSX and see how long you can last without ending up backwards in a tyre wall, lol. It's actually now easier to drive the Amuse in the 750pp race than the NSX.

But yeah, the track is a really good one. Very rewarding for smoother driving.

Sounds more like a tuning thing then about the track. If you go to the tuning page you will find all you need to know about setting up a car. Please look things up before you post. :)

I prefer driving the F430 on Suzuka in different PP-classes.
Not really competitive in some of the races, but it's perhaps my favourite car in the whole game. The balance, the feel, the dynamics of the car is awesome in my opinion.
In my experience the car gets more balanced when I remove as much weight as possible.

Current setting:

Tires: R3 R3 / S2 S2 (depending on PP)
Damper: 8 8
Springs: 7 7
Camber: 1.9 1.8
Toe: -0.8 -0.5
Brakes: 7 6
ABS: 2 (yeah it's cheating, but need late braking to avoid rammers :-( )
TCS: off
ASM: off

Power: Full (but depends on PP)
Weight: Minimum (but depends on PP)

Gearing: variates based upon power and weight. But thats just the final gearing, the individual cogs have all been altered to a set value but can't remember them.

i love Sector 2 and 3, i think i need to work alot on sector 1 to improve my lap times. my favourite 5 corners are:

1. Spoon Curve
2. 130R
3. Degner Curve
4. 200R
5. First Curve

Very rewarding for smoother driving.

Very true, just raced against DaKitch (I think), damn that guy was fast!! Left me for dead!

Zetec-ss, wide or tight around First curve? I tend to stick pretty tight on the first corner, after that I try to stay wide round the first section, then tight through the exit.

2.08 is my best so far.

For the first corner on the first lap I find hugging it really tight reduces the chance of being rammed significantly. Everyone seems to forget about the cool tyres/their braking points and tend to run in really quickly - resulting in really wide. After that, it's quite easy to pull away through the esses usually.

After that I usually run quite wide then cut back tight into the 2nd for good speed out.

i love racing suzuka becuase its such a technical track and there arent any walls for people to cheat off of. I usually only race 750pp w/ the z06, i love the way it feels overall although i know the GT and S2000 can be made faster. a few weird things about my setup are i use a 4.2 final gear instead of 4.5 and i have it setup to where i never use 6th gear. also i race with traction control on 1 all the time b/c there are a few areas where you just cant accelerate without spinning the tires, wish i had a racing wheel and pedals but oh well. my best time so far is a 2'02

I love this track, (and London too) its great fun to drive. I usually wait others to pass me at the starting-grid, hate when everyone is bumping everyone at the first corner. I used to use the Lancer X tuned, but now its the orange S2000 Amuse, can't catch up with Fords GT thoug....I do a 2:03 lap with the S2000. :/ I'm usually at top 5 too....

i take the inside for the first part of the corner and then move to the left to take the racing line for the last part of the corner, i have tried taking the inside and to be honest they are pretty much the same, it's just preference
