Level 20 A-Spec, did the difficulty just increase?

I recently reached level 20 and decided to redo the Tuning Car Grand Prix using the Amuse 380RS Superleggera. I believe that every time I have played this event in the past I have gone up against the Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo, and each time I played this event I used the Amuse 380RS Superleggera. However, upon playing this event after reaching level 20, it appears as if the opponent AI has seriously upped its game. I previously had little difficulty winning by approximately 6 to 8 seconds per race (and by even better margins in some races), but after playing this event upon reaching level 20, I won by .1 seconds twice and did not manage to win any of the races in the event by more than about 5 seconds (the Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo coming in second in each race). Am I going crazy, or did the difficulty level just increase? I'm not complaining, as the event was super intense and exciting, but does AI performance jump significantly at level 20? I apologize if this has been covered before. I ran a bunch of searches and could not find a topic specifically on point. Thanks.

AI slightly increases in difficulty, if repeating events over and over again...
Lol jk.

....and then Skynet became self-aware

I've never noticed any difference in the AI. (I'm at A-spec level 31).

Same here. Haven't noticed the A.I. acting any different than they normally do. I don't think the A.I. is as terrible as most people on this forum make it out to be though.

You just got worse :)

That's a good championship, I like the 5 lap races, had to concentrate for a change.

Ok, thanks for responding, I don't know what got into that Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo then. I know it's a faster car than the Superleggera (an over 200 hp advantage I believe), and that as a result I have to win races against it in the corners, but man, it just seemed so much faster on the straights than it had before. I suppose it's possible that I mistook another S2000 for the GT1 Turbo on my previous playthroughs of the event, but I'm really pretty sure that my memory's accurate in this case. I guess I'll just have to play through that event again to verify. I actually like playing through events multiple times. If it was fun the first time, should still be fun the second time.

Also, I believe that there's only 300 or so miles on my Superleggera. The game can't be asking for an oil change that quickly, can it? Is it possible that certain AI drivers in the game are just better than others? On my previous playthroughs of that event, the S2000 GT1 Turbo didn't even finish in second place in every race, but on my most recent playthrough, I felt rather fortunate to win each race in the event considering the way the GT1 Turbo was driving.

^well this might be a dumb remark, but have you tried to rebuild your engine on the GT1 Amuse yet? Surprisingly that DOES help sometimes! 👍

Could it be that the car you are driving changes the behavior of the AI?
I redid the MR race on Deep Forest the other day with the F430 stock (sports soft) and the opposition was lapping at 1.22-or around that time - since my 1.18-1.20 lap times were more than enough to win the race. Yesterday I did the same race with the McLaren MP4-12C stock (sports soft) and the leading AI was doing laps in the 1:18 range. I had to push hard to win. I’m at level 36 A-spec and didn’t notice any other change in the strength of the AI before this.

My guess is that in some races you are running against the Amuse S2000 GT1 '04 while in others you are running against the Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo. I think there is about a hundred HP difference. Next time you run the race again, check to make sure which Amuse you are up against.

Otherwise, I have not seen any changes to how the AI drive as the levels increase. All I've seen is that the AI will try to get into the lead (of the AI pack) and once this is accomplished, will then slow down and will loose its margin to the next car in line (just like our B-Spec Bob's).

Good luck,
GTsail
