Ive just started my third Tsukuba 9 hr in B Spec and I'm still on level 32 but this one should get me to 33.
Does this mean I have to do it 9 times to get from 32 to 35?

Uh, doesn't the 9h Tsukuba race require you be at 33? I can't remember how many times I had to run that event in B-spec to get up to 35. I'm thinking maybe 4 or 5 times. Getting from 35 to 40 stinks too. I'm on my fifth run through of the first 24h race and I'll probably need about 6 more to get to 40.

probably more, as the Exp required to level grows exponentially.

If you can, try and do as much of the Sebastian Vettel X1 challenges as possible, all gold got me from level 30 to nearly level 35. That was a month ago, I am still on level 35. :/

Yes I am talking about B spec, all I can say is WTF PD??? Tsukuba 9 hr 9 times....

As for A Spec I will only do each enduro once and use the Vettel challenge and the seasonals to get me to level 40. I guess that will keep me involved for a fair while.

So to get from 35 - 40 you need to do Le Mans 24 hour 10 times? How ****ing rediculous.

Yeah I really don't know why they designed the leveling system like they did. At the end, it's more of a chore than anything.

I am at level 34 and i find it ridicolous that i have to "block" my ps3 for 9 hours 4-5 times to gain a level.

You're spot on, it is a chore, I mean B Spec was quite fun between level 10 and level 30 but this is a joke, if this cooks my playstation I'll be hitting up PD for a new one.

I think B-Spec is fine. None of the endurance races need you to be there to tell Bob what to do, if it does you must be doing something wrong.
I do however agree that it sucks that you can't use your PS3 for anything else but it's worse in A-Spec and most of the endurance races can be done while you sleep. Only exception is the 24hr races. Leaving your ps3 on for that long isn't going to hurt it, unless you have one that is already dying anyway.

Thanks to PD and this unecessary grinding gettin from 30-35 i know have a $171 power bill for this month. :grumpy:

Has it been figured how much power it consumes per day if left on everyday?

nevermind

PS3 - At Idle

181.32 Watts

PS3 - Standby

2.3 Watts

PS3 - Playing Call Of Duty 4

201.07 Watts

Aussie consumer agency Choice has put together a study of the power consumption of everyday household appliances and, surprise surprise, the leaf blower that is the PS3 comes out at the bottom of the league. Sony’s console burns through 31.74 kWh per week when idling, which is five times the energy used by a refrigerator, and ten times the juice sipped by the Wii.

To be fair, a fridge is left on 24/7, whereas a console tends to be switched into standby mode a lot of the time. Those lazy readers who need a little prodding should take note of the costs of leaving their PlayStation running: over a year, it adds up to US$237. Compared to this, the MacBook Pro — not usually known for running cool — looks as thirsty as a desert cactus, a using only 3.66 kWh per week; almost one tenth the appetite of the PS3.

So, switching off between sessions could save enough cash to actually buy a Wii. Alternatively, you could put the hot PS3 inside the cold refrigerator and watch as your energy costs spiral out of control, laughing as the ozone layer burns away over your head and the melting ice caps bring the beach to your doorstep. You choose.

200W x 5 Hrs/day = 1000WHr/Day = 1KwHr/Day
x 30 Days = 30KwHr
x .15$/KwHr = $4.50/30Days

24/7 = ~$27/30Days.

Damn thats how much it costs me to use my hot tub per month.

Well I found my new saying, my ps3 costs me as much as my hot tub. Ofcourse I don't use my tub as much as my ps3 but still.

Hehehe, if you think the slog to level 35 is bad just wait until you need to get from level 35 to level 40... you'll need to run 10 or 11 Le Mans 24h races ;)

its pretty pointless to get to level 40 in either a spec or b spec

its not like any of the prize cars are amazing

for one of the b-spec 7 hour or something enduro races I got like a 1980 RX7.. yeah something i really was dying for/ was worth my time

It's crazy some of the EXP awards though what do you get from grinding the same track over and over again nothing but a bad experience?

Also the difference in the licence test exp from Silver to Gold is so small it is hardly worth going for gold unless your after the car at the end of it. A difference of 406 from silver to gold on all the super licence tests = pah

I've always wondered why people on GTP bring up electricity costs, considering that a lot of people run high-end PC's that use 400W+ 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Along with the kids who play CoD for 12+hours a day on their PS3s.

Around here, we have it fairly cheap. Running the PS3 for 5 hours a day at full load, 30 days a week, will cost you about $2.50. Roughly $50 a year for playing the PS3 6+ hours a day, ever day, for an entire year (this covers the days I don't play at all, and the days I play for more than 5 hours).

I spend more than $50 a month on my gym membership.

I guess I'll reach level 40 sometime in 2023. I won't go near any endurance races in a-spec, and even for b-spec 9 hours is probably the limit for me.

This makes baby Jesus cry.

Having my PS3 on doesn't cost me anything right now since it's winter here and I'm heating with electric anyways. All the energy my PS3 and PC uses turn to heat. Now during the summer when I'm trying to cool my home is different.

Has anyone figured out what's the point of having level 34,36-39 when you open up nothing new? Do you really have to race the first 24 hour race 10 times to reach level 40? Is this A spec or B spec? If A spec, that's 240 hours of racing just to unlock the last track.

Point is this is a game. Games are meant for playing by humans, not left for hours playing itself.

I've always wondered if someone at PD actually played through the whole game doing A-Spec and B-Spec events trying to reach level 40.

The effort it takes to level up is almost as pointless as the rewards gained for leveling up.

Yeah its a bummer it takes so long to level up, but really what's waiting for us when we do level up all the way?
As far as i can tell absolutely nothing of value.

You have to have LVL 33 to get the 9 hour race, and you have to do it atleast 5 times I think to go from 33-35.

I'm on my first run. I cant see myself doing these during the day anymore as it takes away from actually playing the game. I'll probably set it up every evening before bed and wake up for another completion. Whomever's idea it was to cause the "grinding" needs to be given the crown of thorns. :dunce:
