Since we agree that it's important to stick to facts and real-life opinions, then generalizations have no place in an argument.
Good enough then...
You're judging this car (that hasn't come out yet [I feel I'm repeating myself again...]) to a car that's 10 years old.
Yes, but when you have a company with a solid track record, they often tend to stick to it... That said, Lexus could go deep into left-field with the car, but that is so un-Lexus...
So because they come from rich parents, they're automatically douchebags? At least give them a chance to be a douchbag, first. This sounds like jealousy, you want to be rich like them, but you're not. Guess what? Being middle class isn't the end of the world when you're 19-20 years old, it's far better than starting off in the poorest classes. When you're 30-40, you'll buy that new BMW that you want at just the point where most people can afford to do so. (I just hope you actually test-drive it, and not just assume it's a good car because the '06 model was really good.)
There really isn't anything to be "jealous" about when people are wealthy. I grew up in a pretty wealthy area, and although I come from a high/middle class family, we have been known to shop the local Lexus and BMW dealers before. What I speak of is the overall image given off by a young man, usually less than 25, driving a Lexus, what do you usually think of? I'm quite happy pulling in less than $20K a year by myself and still living with my Mom while going to school... It saves me an s-load of money, and it lets me save up for the stuff I want...
In any case, YSSMAN, I don't have any personal grudge with you, as you do have a wealth of automotive information (I used to keep up with the latest this and that in the world of cars from age 11 to about 20 or so), but while generalizations might temporarily move people's emotions, it takes a lot more to actually shape opinions.
Well what started as a joke turned into an arguement, and thats allright. I'm not the biggest Lexus fan, or Toyota for that matter, and I think anyone who has spent some time on these boards have figured this out. Granted there are always exceptions to the rules, and I still love the old IS300 (we almost bought one) and the Celica (had a classic 1600GT, almost bought a late-model GT), etc.
My problem is that Lexus gets way too much credit sometimes for really not doing anything all to specail, or atleast that is the way that I see it. The styling is progressive, but it isn't revolutionary... The technology is there, has been there, and as far as I can tell, the buggest leap forward was the 8-speed gearbox.
I'll continue to be boring and go for the British and American luxury models, as they better fit my personal tastes... Lexus really never has, and I don't know if they ever will, build a luxury sedan to match what I like...
