Is anyone gonna get LCS?
So far the game hasn't been as hyped as GTA games before it and I'm just wondering why they would do that.

Yes I'm getting it....

They (rockstar) are doing it to make more money--- I'm sure most of the upfront costs were in the development-- crossing to a new platform should be relatively inexpensive--- I know absolutely nothing about this game so don't know how good or bad it might be-- I'm just happy to play a new game in LC-- was such a great city-- looking forward to riding a motorcycle in LC if anything...

As to the reasons... if you read the link in the first post-- it sounds like they are hinting that GTA4 might be delayed-- alot of companies try to release good news with bad news to mitigate the stock price drop.... since there will be a potential loss of revenue late next year they need to make up for it. I think they planned to do this all along but just kept the info close in case of bad company news....

No news... I've been checking... I'd expect it no later then june (which would be the end of the 2nd calender quarter).

If I hear anything I'll post it back here...

I've heard from a few different sources that it will be released in late-April.

I'm looking forward to this game quite a lot. Maybe not as much in comparison with the previous three games, but I'm really excited after reading through some information on the game. It looks excellent.

GTA 3 and Vice City are the best games in the series, with GTA 3 maybe edging towards being a little better. I loved Liberty City, and I loved the storyline to it. I also hope that the game isn't too expensive, as I don't really want to fork out another $100. My guess is that it will sit around $70.

Either way, PS2 Multiplayer mode anyone? My bet is yes.

Take Two: PS2 Liberty City Stories Ships "Late April" at "Lower Price"
Posted on 7 March 2006 by Neil | 32 Comments
Take Two have published their financial results for the first quarter of Fiscal 2006 (November, December, January) and with it came a couple of tidbits of Grand Theft Auto news. Firstly, the company put a more specific date on GTA: Liberty City Stories for PS2, stating that it will ship in "Late April", which ties in with yesterday's retail reports.

The company also mentioned that Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories has been the number one selling PSP title in the US every month since its October 2005 release. Hardly surprising.

The company reiterated that the second Grand Theft Auto title coming to PSP later in the year will be "all-new".

Finally, a hint was made towards Rockstar Games' plans for next year.

"For 2007, the company anticipates a strong next generation lineup from Rockstar Games including sequels to several of Rockstar's most successful franchises."

I'll take that as meaning new GTA on next generation platform(s).

Unfortunately, the company was no more elaborate than this in its news for investors. A conference call is being held shortly, and I'll update this post if any new information comes to light following it.

Update: Rockstar Games CEO Paul Eibeler has confirmed that Liberty City Stories will retail for a lower price on PS2 than PSP. This too appears in line with yesterday's retail reports of a rumoured $29.99 price.

Alright so here's the ticket. A few retailers have been whispering about an email they received this morning from Take 2 explaining that Liberty City Stories' PS2 incarnation is going to ship to stores across North America on Monday, April 17, in preparation for release the following day.
Exerpts from GTAPSP.com. That's obviously a US price, meaning the Australian/New Zealand price (for those who are interested) would be around $49.99 at best guess.

Looks as if GTA 4 will be a 2007 release, too. Normally, that would be an irritatingly long wait for me, but thankfully we have Liberty City Stories to tide us over. Thank you, Rockstar.

Yep, last ever PS2 game that I’m going to buy—and it’s a cheap one!

April's not bad but will that date be the same for the UK?
If its April then i might not buy The Godfather and wait for this.

I would assume that the UK and US would have an April release date, but after enquiring at Electronics Boutique last week, it seems Australia will get in in early-to-mid May.

From the PSP trailers I've seen-- yes-- with the most obvious addition being motorcycles (helis too I imagine)-- I've purposely been avoiding game details once again (I do that on all GTAs)-- I believe you are playing as Tony Cipriani and its a prequel to GTA3-- Release is still scheduled in 10 days (Apr 24) in US....

I'm betting I will like this better then SA-- LC is a great city... looking forward to riding a PCJ in LC-- hope the game has VC physics as I want to stunt in LC...

hmmmm this is interesting, if its like the same size but with way better stuff (graphics, ai, missions) then it may be a good title (although I would prefer rockstar working on the PS3 gta instead!!! :indiff:)

Someone mentioned about having a 4th island.... funnily enough in GTA3 there was ment to be a 4th island (the blocked off tunnel at the top of the hill on the 3rd one lead to it)... either rockstar didnt have time, funding (because that hadnt at that point made their millions ) or space on the disk....... whatever it was if you managed to use cheats to get the dodo to fly over that hill the corner map would show roads, names of areas etc etc.... so it was planned im sure.... hmmmm....

here's the link about this.....

Who says they're not? The next gen GTA game is probably a long while off yet, so what they're just doing is adapting an existing PSP game for PS2 to make a quick buck.

I'm looking forward to it, though I'm trying to make my way through 3 different PC games at the moment, including Oblivion - which is a monster of a game. Where am I supposed to get the time for this?

I don't need to see any pictures or read any information about this game, the fact that we are returning to Liberty City automatically makes it a definate buy. 👍

So far the only game i've bought this year is Forza Motorsport (and loving it - play it way more than GT4, but i still like the latter) and i'd say that LCS will be the last PS2 game i buy too.

Started to read and started finding out more then I wanted--- once again I'm going to play this GTA without any guides or spoilers.... so please everyone, give spoiler warnings in thread titles and in posts-- if it becomes a problem I'll just avoid this site for a while....

thanks....

Ahh, good one Spud725. 👍 No, I haven’t got it. I’ve spent all of my money on Tourist Trophy, so I probably won't get Libert City Stories for a few months, if at all… :indiff:

Enjoy! Hopefully the kids let you have a turn. ;)

I'm getting it this weekend and am really looking forward to trying it out! If anyone's had the chance to play it yet, are the cars the same as GTA3? Also, how do they handle compared to GTA3?

I've got it for the PSP, which I'm assuming will be just the same on the PS2. Cars handle just like they used to, all the old favourites are still in since GTA3.

Mafia Sentinal
Yakuza Stinger
Stallion
Cheetah
Banshee

all in there. I bought the PSP version last week, and I'm currently on the 2nd island. Great game and I'm just waiting now for Vice City Stories.

GT4_Rule
Won't this be just a remake of the orginal GTA III featuring Liberty City?

pretty much-- and why the price is only $19.99... well worth it to play new missions in a GTA game IMO (easier then trying to get amnesia and re-playing the old game ;) )

Just watched the review on Gamespot and they basically said it was rubbish..... its literally a port from PSP including the PSP graphics hence the low price. The story is the same and they say its uninteresting and generally is not impressive on PS2... the price may sway people but I dont think its going to sway me... I really did think it would be a reinvented game with at least the quality of S.A........ not a projected PSP game, oh well...... Im hoping GTA LCS for PSP will be better... maybe they will launch it on PS2 aswell.....I havent even finished SA... might aswell play that...
