I have just made a trip down memory lane by playin the original GT. Thinkin that because my driving skills have improved i should easily be able to complete the special license which i could not complete previously and get all golds in the A and B licenses. However it seems not to be the case and i am worried that i will be unable to get golds in the GT4 licenses? How difficult are the licenses in GT4, do they compare much to GT3 and if so would it be good practice to do the GT3 licenses again or even GT2, as the car physics seem to be better?

thanks in advance!

Hi there,

no worries about getting Golds in GT4. There is quite a bit of variation for the licence tests now and you should have read by now that every licence level requires one to pass 16 tests each. As such, there is really very much more driving involved.

I suppose the hardest thing, if there really is such a thing, is that they offered the timed lap tests very early on unlike in GT3 where it only came in the form of the Super Licence tests. However, there will be a pace car in the form of a R34 GTR in all of this timed lap tests. Of course, the super licence tests are still timed lap tests by yourself and beyond that, you will find others in the Mission Hall. All in all, its really loads of fun that has been expected of the Gran Turismo Series. Then again, there can be only so much variation so you may actually consider it as driving in different cars, testing in the same track at different levels.

In conclusion, continue to strive for gold if time permits, it really does wonders for a person playing the game later on. It makes playing so much more enjoyable knowing that every drive is about cutting seconds and milliseconds from the previous laps.

I´m currently doing the GT2 licenses and i don´t think that it has helped my driving in GT4P ( Don´t have GT4 yet). I got all gold in GT4P but no full license with gold in GT3 so i would guess that they might be easier in GT4... at least the first 2 licenses.... but then again i don´t got full GT4 so this is only a guess.

You can not go back and play GT2 after GT4P. I doesn't have the same psychics.
But I agree that getting all gold on GT4P wasn't that hard.
< all gold on GT4P :D

ok thanks for that. I have just done A,B,I-C,I-B,I-A licenses on GT2 as i dont have a PS2 at the moment. In the B license i got 6 Golds and 4 silvers, and every other event i got a silver at, never accepted the bronze and stuck at it till i got a silver. Many times it was on the first attempt and others i may have only been 00:00:021 away from a gold! Also do we all agree that getting Golds in GT1 was difficult?

i realy cant wait till it comes to Britain! Everything sounds so good!

It´s such a long time ago since i played GT1. and when i did i didn´t really focused on getting golds in lincens. but i would get it is tough cause of the steering.

I found some of the GT Prologue licence tests quite hard........ especially the one with the spoon s2000 in NY!!!! :yuck: ......I hope GT4 has abit of tolerance in its licences.....I just wana RACE! :) 👍

I got really really peved off in GT3 doing that Skyline at Midfield lap in the S license, I was 0.001 over the gold four times before I got it. Thats frustating and I hope I don't do that in GT4...... Ever.

I think the best thing about GT4 is that u can get more than one car for winning different metals

I currently have all silvers for B, A, IB, and IA.

that'll already let u have a few nice cars like the GTR concept and nismo 270R and numerous other cars.

I think once you get the hang of the game and the tracks it's not that difficult. Being at 94.2% with most of the races left being Endurances, I went back to try and get gold for all the licenses. So far I have all gold on B, A, iB, and more than half of iA. Didn't have time to finish that one up, and still gotta do the S license. I did get S-16 out of the way though :)

i dont think it was hard
i passed all test on first try, and got gold on nearly all test thats on the Nurburgring on the first try again.

mission race on the other hand is alot harder

i Hate the first rally test in GT4P, the one where your driving a suzuki. I just hate it.

Ahh.. Memories! I know just what you mean.. I had to try that soo many times before I got the gold.. Frustrating. But then again, I did succeed eventually! :)

i found in GT3 S licene the lap of laguna in the viper GTSR, that was by far the toughest for me, I dont think i ever got all gold in GT1, but i did in GT2 and 3 and GT4P

I hope they are still as challenging as GT3's were at times

Just pottered about playing GT3 doing/trying to get golds on the few licenses i dont have gold on and remembered just how damn frustrating it can be. Taking the same line through a corner at the same speed and getting round but being a bit to slow on the end of the circuit, then doing the exact same thing but the car goes offline in the perfect corner! AAAAAAAAARGH

In my opinion it is much easier to win gold in GT4 license tests compared to previous versions providing your familiar with the tracks. On average it only took four turns each license to get gold in B, A, IB & IA license tests using the new wheel. The coffee breaks providied the most challenging tests. (touch wood) I am going to tackle the super license tests later in the week.

I agree. Once you get use to the handling of the car they give you, it's not too bad. Already got gold on B, A, iB, & iA, and am now halfway through S. IMO, the full lap ones are a bit easier since you can make a mistake here and there and still get gold.

What did you think of the licenses in GT3? Were they hard or easy for you?

I've read from a few people GT4 licenses were very hard. But, most seem to say they're very easy. I guess I'll just have to wait two more weeks.

Sorry, I never purchased GT3, only played it at my friend's place -- so I can't comment on whether I feel it's easier or harder.

S licenses aren't really that hard to pass.... I think driving in person really helps playing GT4 tho and not the other way around haha

Apply all of the stuff learned in the previous licenses into S..
Getting golds in S however proves quite a challenge but it's doable

4 years...
4 years and still no S licence on GT3

I HATE laguna seca..
I HATE the dodge viper.

but at least i hated them BEFORE i played the game.

I got all at Bronxe lwvwl in GT3 within a week of geting the game. The Cote d'Azur test took me the longest. The Viper one I got after a good number of attempts. I returned to GT3 in the shape of the Japanese version and managed to get golds on the A and B license which is a first for me. I'd only ever achieved a B license gold before.

GT4 mostly I found fairly easy at Bronze level. I have yet to do the S-16 license. It is not that I am not fast enough thoguh, I can do a 6:30 without too much difficulty. It is just staying on the track for that length of time. I now know all the places where I can go flat out. All it takes is a slight lapse in concentration and I have 4 wheels on the grass. At least the S license is not crucial for a long while. I am at almost 50% and still have not seen any races that require an S license.

Gold or not, I still prefer to keep it as it is until I get 100% on the game then I go back to the licenses to see how much I've improved. It's what I've been doing for the last three GT titles..

Any word own whether the tests in Prologue are the same level of difficulty as those in GT4? I found many of the tests in GT3 alot harder to gold that those in Prologue, particularly the S-licenses, however Prologue has its moments, the infamous Test 13, two laps of New York in the Takata NSX... excuse my French but that test was a beeeatch. :yuck:

The gt4 licenses are definitely easier in my opinion. I gat them all pretty easily. Every once in a while I would have to run one a couple of times to pass it. I just try for bronze though. I'm old so I'm not as coordinated as I used to be. Never got my gt4 S license either. I hated the GT1 at cote-d'-azur.

Also, there is a test in gt4 with a BMW where at a corner of the track, you can go 2 ways. I would always go the long way around and be like 2 seconds too slow, took me 3 tries until I watched the demo and saw there was a left turn that made it shorter. Am I the only idiot that did that? Sorry I don't remember license and test #.
