License plates on the DB11'16

How do you paint the license plates of the Aston Martin DB11?

Maybe I'm dumb but I just can't seem to figure it out. Yet, I still see custom liveries out there with custom plates and/or different colors on the plates. How is this done?

Any insight is appreciated.
