License Test 48

Hey guys, I'd love some tips on the final license test. I'm almost a full second off from gold. I have already gotten gold on every other license test in about ~4hrs of play time and this one is giving me a tough time. Any tips greatly appreciated!

Brake early for the second corner.

Don't out brake yourself in the dragons tail.

The second last corner is blind. Learn to break a little early and carry much speed through it.

Don't brake too late for the final corner.

When GT Sport first came out, I rushed through the Licence Tests and as soon as I'd passed one, I just moved onto the next. Until I'd done them all. This week, I thought I'd re-visit them and try to get All Golds, as I want to obtain the Nissan Pace Car.💡

In three sessions/evenings after everyone else has gone to Bed, I've managed to do all but the very last, for which I've achieved Silver and I'm still 1.5 seconds away from GOLD.

Agreed that all of the above are useful tips, but can anybody else elaborate on it ?
I'm using a controller, so find Trail Braking hard to judge.

Its going to sound like a cliche, but i found i was much faster when i stopped pushing and trying to maximise every single inch of braking zone and corner exit. Smoother really IS faster in my experience at least, try to stop fighting the car into doing what you want, and make the most of where IT wants to be.

That is actually the best tip one could give. It's the same when practicing for qualifying, I first drive around the track to see what I remember from it. Then I start increasing the pace and try to push a couple of laps until I'm at a time I think might touch the end-of-my-talent (usually this is a time very close to what the sector indicator shows as my optimal lap time). Then I start doing laps in a more relaxed manner to find a good race pace which will not stress me out too much, I usually end up doing laps that are a bit faster then the qualifying time I thought was the best I could do :-)

Just practice the track and try to get into that relaxed flow and I promise you'll beat that gold time by a second at least!

I haven't altered anything, as far as I'm aware.
I do use the Cones as Guides for Braking [Edit to add.]

If you haven't altered anything then I imagine you're using TCS set to 3 which is the default for the licence tests IIRC - as such you may wish to reduce it to 1 or turn it off as that is generally quicker depending on how good you are without it enabled.

TCS to 2 or 1, as you feel more confortable, don't recomend to turn it off, you being on controller.
Brake Bias 2 towards the rear end should make the car turn better.

Anything else, just like people already said, don't try too hard, in any car, when you go too hard, you loose time, but in the case of the Cayman it's amplified by the car characteristics, the car dynamics gives you the feel it can turn faster and you can brake later, but it hasn't the engine power neither the torque to compensate any overdo, so you loose a lot of time every time you go anything sideways or you overcook the brakes. Try to keep your speed, take early apex, don't go sideways, as it'll took you forever to regain speed.

I’m not sure if this is still possible, but I found by stopping before starting the lap and reversing to a the straight before the last corner you could get a better start and be faster over the start finish line . Then it’s all about clean driving, my driving skills are not up to alien standards but i use a ds4 controller.I think I used traction control 2 , abs weak, cone markers all other aids off click on car set up icon before start to check which ones you have on . On that course you should be able to get gold just by coasting through the apex's and with barely any trail braking. The fact that you're not fast enough makes me think that your exit speeds are too low possibly from not putting on the gas earlier enough.

But, if your TCS is set to 3, then you could also be putting the throttle on too early, which causes the TCS to slow your car down, to stop you from spinning out, resulting in a bad exit speed as well. If you come out of a turn, put on the gas, and that little red light with the picture of the car is blinking then it means you put on the gas too early and screwed up the exit speed.

Watch this video, pay attention to the parts where he has the throttle down during the whole turn. Even with limited skill you should be able to clear those turns without using the brakes. That should buy you some extra time as well.

Many Thanks for your help Guys !!! Turning the TCS down to 1 did make a difference to my speed, but I kept spinning out of corners. Not gentle enough on the Throttle I guess. So changed it to 2 and straight away, using your advice about not over-driving the car, got within 0.5 second of gold. 20 minutes later, it's done !!! Excellent....now onto the Circuit Experiences...

Good for you man, well done.

The circuit experiences will probably take a lot less time then the license tests. IMHO the times needed to gold them are not very hard to achieve. If I remember correctly I golded most of the section after 1 to 3 attempts (most of them first try) and after all the sections the full lap is not very hard anymore. Oh, what I did do was watch the videos and paid good attention to the explanation given in them, those were really helpful.

Thanks for the advice. Didn't even realise that you could adjust the cars Brake Bias in Licence Tests.

Thanks for the advice. Didn't even realise that you could adjust the cars Brake Bias in Licence Tests.

Like torque distribution on 4WD cars, some tests allow it, other don't. Just check if it is available in the HUD.

That's what happens when a GT game is designed around a "true" endgame experience (Sport Mode) and doesn't need to rely on nigh impossible license tests as filler content.

LOL.. We've ALL only done the Basic & Intermediate Tests so Far.
