I need some help on this one. I've golded everything (still progressing my way through IA) but I can only manage silver on IC-1. I'm using the DS3 controller.

Does anyone have any tips. I've tried the following:
ABS on 10. Floor it and spin the tires to launch. Shift 200 RPM past redline from first to second. Then shift 200 before redline for the following gear changes. Brake full until stop

I've also tried ABS off and tried to launch without spinning the tires. I've tried to feather the brakes or just hit them hard.

I just can't seem to get gold. I've gotten to .003 off the target time, and probably hit the .01-.02 off the target time at least 10 times. I must have wasted 2 hours on this license test so far.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

I turned everything off if I remember, turning ABS off really made a difference.

The best plan I found for those was counting the stripes on the centre of the airstrip, those would be my braking marker. Golding it is just a matter of putting it all together.

I passed it by going sideways after losing the car under hard braking without ABS.

I was lucky I think and this was not the way Kaz meant it for us. Give it a try though. 4 wheels going sideways have good stopping power I guess.

Yeah. I've done some reading, and I agree, it's just a matter of repetition to gold it. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't an "easier" way ;)

Keep the car standard how it is. Just take note of the lines and large crosses on the road, and break later/earlier according to your time.

I tried every stuff possible too, then turned abs off and pass it on first time, bit of luck cause the car went uncontrollable but still stop in gold times in the good place, but after half a spin XD

Oh and at start, just let the wheel spin until you hit max speed for first gear, then switch to 2nd. Tried lots of different things and that way was the fastest for the start.

I was having trouble with this but I finally was able to gold the test once I remembered that I could turn up both the front and rear brake balance to 10. By default they are set at 5. I also had TC off and ABS to 1. The brakes were so much stronger after the increase that I actually stopped short of the finish area using the same braking point as before.

Edit: You might have to map some buttons on your DS3 to access the in-car settings unless you can change the brake balance in the menu.

This one frustrated me for a long time... then someone said use the handbrake and I golded it 1st try by a good margin... the car seems to stop quicker if you get it spinning over the line.

Keep an eye on the timer: try braking at 18 s. Too early, ok, 18.5 s, and etc. That worked for me. Still took a few tries though.

(18 s is an example, don't remember the actual time)

Oddly I did this after turning auto transmission on, I guess I wasn't downshifting quickly enough in manual. Did all the other 59 tests in manual though so maybe just that one.

I was struggling with it as well... Tried everything I could possibly think off.
At first I had set the last big X on the road center as breaking ref. point and it got me pretty close to the target time but could never reach it. So i started messing around with abs tcs, shifting control etc and could not get there still.
Thats when i remembered to turn up the braking force to 10 both on the front and rear wheels with my DFGT dial... did it at first try then. Now struggling with IC-3 and IC-10

I spent ages on this one. Loads with ABS at 10 and then loads with ABS at 1. All but given up and thought lets try with ABS off and did it first time. All I did was brake a quickly after about 20.2ish seconds as possible

This might help:

You dont have to do the slidey thing that i did, but its an alternative method which does work with ABS off. Otherwise use ABS1 for which is probally the easiest way of doing it and brake in a very similar place gl

I believe the true way the game intended this challenge is not so much braking, but acceleration control. I passed this using the E-Brake after trying for 2 hours to control acceleration and could not do it (using controller sticks). However, I have a friend who used pedals/wheel and was able to pass this by being able to get less wheel spin on launch.

Also, a weird result in this challenge was the fact that not every WOT, full wheel spin launch was the same. True, they are never the same in real life. Sometimes, when all settings were same, and I just WOT from start, my ghost from a previous WOT launch would jump ahead slightly.

I didn't try changing any settings, and after half an hour of repeated attempts finally golded it with exactly the target time, whatever it was (17.000 or whatever).

Never thought of turning ABS off, guess I should have tried it.

Time the braking so you'd end up right in the middle of the finish zone, but then right as your nose enters it while the car is still under foot braking, tap the e-brake to complete the stop.

Automatic helped me, too. It seems I wasn't making the most of the engine braking.

The launch is critical. I found that "full bore" launches were actually slower than doing it "properly" in this car. Hold the revs around 5k (just below is best, for me) and time your full-throttle point so that the rev needle doesn't hit the limiter before the clutch is fully engaged. If you're too slow, the clutch-drag phase will be very slow, or you'll just bog down; too early and you'll spin up too much. Your timing has to be spot on.

Or, you could just "cheat" by ramping up the brake power or exploiting the dodgy tyre physics. ABS should be no higher than 1, in case the car is yawing slightly, where the ABS dials back the braking power.

The slalom in the FT86 is full-bore launch, full throttle into 3rd and then getting into a rhythm that allows you to accelerate around each cone, lifting just enough in-between. Patience in the lift-off area, and keen attention to the rhythm are important, as is the speed out of the final cone pair.

TBH I don't think there's any trick to it -- just keep at it, and you'll notice yourself finding a rhythm more and more easily. Then it's just a matter of time until you manage to keep the rhythm for the entire thing.

IB-3 is the FR slalom one.

I'm like 0.2 seconds off gold.

There is a surprising amount of slack in this one. Like Corrigan said you have to find a rhythm that works for you. Watch closely what I do with the accelerator. If you let off slightly at the right time it helps you get a sharper turn:)

I remember when I struggled with this. This test - is a pain.
So I gave up. Started the car, went to the side of the road, started braking and hugging the limits of the track as well. Managed to do 26.2 in first try (0.5 better than gold). God, I hate that challenge.

I did it in the same fashion as you, though it was premeditated...used the handbrake to slide into the zone in style with a nice sideways drift. Probably not the most repeatable way to do it though...

Oddly enough, that's exactly how I golded that test haha
