I sort of fluked this one - probably the one I struggled with the most. I was .01 above the time for gold numerous times. I spent about half an hour trying in vain to try to gold it. Got bored after a while and so started messing about. I slammed the handbrake on, got it sideways, slammed the brakes on full - and got gold. I was surprised and annoyed in equal measure!

Yes sideways is how I did it as well, abs is off, full throtle start, let first gear go almost to max before shift, the rest shift a tiny bit early, hit the brakes all the way for a second, let off turn left or right, full brake again and keep the car sideways as much a u can. I didn't want to gold it like this but after trying forever I gave up and did this, also used this to gold one of the test in gt4 or gt3

I also used the handbrake. ABS on 1 and brake normally. Then we you've slowed down quite a bit engage the handbrake and you will come to a much quicker stop.

This was a tough one for me to gold too. Use the stripes on the runway as braking markers. This one really needs everything to be perfect.

never adjusted any of the settings to get this one. I'm one of the lucky few who have golded every test.
The braking test are some of the easiest to figure out.

Its a matter of knowing when to start braking. Use field markers.
In other words find something on the screen to mark when you should start braking. The key to getting gold on this test is to make sure that your car comes to a complete stop just inside of the finish line/area. The further into that area that you go the further past the qualifying time you will also go.

This takes a few trys, but if you go too far into the finish line, try to brake just a bit ealier, if you stop short of the finish line, try to start braking a little later.

I used the painted divider lines to tell me when to start braking.

I hope that helps

You dont have to do the slidey thing that i did, but its an alternative method which does work with ABS off. Otherwise use ABS1 for which is probally the easiest way of doing it and brake in a very similar place gl

Of the tracks in the game, this one, I would say is the appropriate one to do the "slidey thing" on. I can just see Jeremy Clarkson or Richard Hammond looking into the camera while doing the "slidey thing"

Yeah I too golded it with ABS off going sideways into the box on my cousins game, haven't played any a spec on mine until I get my wheel.

There is a surprising amount of slack in this one. Like Corrigan said you have to find a rhythm that works for you. Watch closely what I do with the accelerator. If you let off slightly at the right time it helps you get a sharper turn:)

Hey Stune, big fan! Your guides kept me company through the S license.

Very glad i could help. :) If anyone is having trouble with any of the licences be sure to check out the link in my sig for golds with commentary. I since did a similar thing for some of the more difficult special events.

This is also how I did it. Mash the throttle at the exact moment that "Start" happens. You don't want to be at full revs when the game does give you power, you want it to climb to around 4000 rpm before it gives you power. I counted the strips in the middle of the road and as soon as you hit the 14th strip then you'll want to hit the brakes and downshift smoothly while madly tapping the e-brake. Do it a few times and you'll get gold. Easier with a DFGT, I couldn't do it with a controller.

Hey guys thanks for all the responses. Funny enough, I went back to it the same day after making this thread and golded it within 5 or 6 tries. I did it with the ABS set to 1 (nothing else). I started watching my speed as the braking point.

My advice for this one is that you SHOULDN'T sit there for hours on end. Maybe that's good advice for all of the licenses tests. Spend 30 minutes or so and then move on and come back to it. For me, this test was pure luck, not skill. There's no way I could get multiple golds on this one.

I found getting frustrated over such a stupid meaningless test is a good way to not enjoy the game. In fact, I was completing other tests but not enjoying it because I was still fuming about the braking test.

It's not a race (ha ha), all golds will come in time.

Take care guys, have fun racing.

Don't redline on the gearshifts, specifically change gear a little earlier than you think you should and the car will accelerate a little faster, this will likely find you the time you need.

I did this and the previous braking test by sliding in sideways :p

On the previous one I just did it out of frustration and to my surprise it ended up working.

ABS to 1. Be sure to time your launch. As I recall, I kept the throttle pegged til 1 second, released the throttle, and then floored it again just as the run started . . . this seemed to be a sweet spot to get a quick launch. As for the braking, I got into the hooks at around 139mph. I think there is a pretty clear marker (X on the track, and a white stack of tires to your left) which you can use to time the start of your braking. Also, I seem to remember slamming down through gears aggressively (edge of tranny lock up) when I finally golded.

I am not joking on this one, and I even have the replay. I couldn't pass this test so I hit the handbrake and kept spinning and got gold.

I passed it by going sideways after losing the car under hard braking without ABS.

I was lucky I think and this was not the way Kaz meant it for us. Give it a try though. 4 wheels going sideways have good stopping power I guess.

This license has been annoying the crap out of me for weeks, best time I could finish with was a 28.886 and could not even see getting in the .700's. Decided to search the forums and found this thread. I immediately switched off ABS and on the first run I slid horribly at the finish but finished sideways with a 26.556. Go figure.

Lol, that's exactly how it went for me too. After several failed attempts (with all assists off) I saw Stune's video and figured I'd give it a go, James Bond style...worked like a charm :p

This one frustrated me for a long time... then someone said use the handbrake and I golded it 1st try by a good margin... the car seems to stop quicker if you get it spinning over the line.

Thanks man, I golded it first try after using both the brake and ebrake the whole way at the end.

I crossed the finish line backwards and finished at 26.700, LOL

Putting a 10/10 brake distribution with the ABS on helps big time too.
If you use the ABS off put something like 8/3 or 9/4, or anyway anything front biased but still strong enough so that you will be able to lock your front tires if you brake too much.
