You get a bunch of Sony PS3's and test the download out, but you accidentally type in the wrong code and it opens up the server for all to use.

Chris.

Have you made sure the "Media Server Connection" is disabled under "Settings--->Network"? Sometimes I would have trouble downloading updates of any sort unless I actually had a media server broadcasting.

Chris.

Great...now I just need a functional PS3. :(
You aren't missing much. Find a Wii, look at the Wii News channel and pretend it has nicer graphics with less info.

I'm just not impressed. With all the hypes and delays I expected more.

They should release an API for it and let the internet loose on it.

The things people would do :)

If your PS3 is idling or running anything besides an actual game, why not run F@H? Why are some complaining?

I know, and from what I've seen and studied, leaving your PS3 running F@H is better than turning it off, as I've seen more failures turning it on/off every time you use it, than if you leave it running F@H.

As a professional scientist, it irks me to think that my PS3 is effectively working for Vijay Pande! (Have you seen the number of publications he has got out of data munched by F@H so far?) Seriously, though - I don't see the problem with it, I just wish there were more distributed computing apps available, like SETI, or the proteomic/genomic analysis ones... at the moment, Pande is getting the entire global PS3 network all for himself

I really like the idea that Life is free of charge and that you spend some (though I hardly think it's a lot) of your energy bill to curing deseases and stuff like that. At least it's better than 60 euro's per year going into Microsofts pockets. ;) I think it's a brilliant move from Sony. 👍 Ofcourse it needs some cool functionality first. ;)

its ok, the live cam feeds are entirely too small. I'm positive this will turn out to be something great. I want to see google earth on my PS3.

I personally like the fact that on F@H I can see what I'm actually doing, even if i don't have a clue what's going on, it beats giving money away aimlessly.

I do like the new interface with life, some funny stories there to, check out the donkey that was arrested in egypt and jailed for 24 hours! or the baggy pants ban in Miami, aparently theyre unconstitutional...

Nice to have a light side as well as serious news and events.

it's kind of boring right now; but i'm sure there will be more channels added, more major cities added, and even more interactivity. This is a great start.. gJ sony!

It'd be cool if we got channels like..
- music [changes by area of the globe you're at]
- USGS [or other geological media].. earthquake tracking, etc..
- Space-related [like beyond earth, etc].. to see other planets, or new discoveries etc.
- YouTube videos from a given area on the map.
- GoogleEarth would be a nice channel too.

I think it was the ban that was found unconstitutional.. but i didn't read the whole story. lol :scared:

As typical PS3 fashion, it ain't much right now, but will grow bigger over time.

(Gee, I sound like a boner pill commercial).

I actually agree. I would like to be able to Seti it as well. Who knows, maybe in the future.

I apologise, Chris... I now see what you meant... a remarkable coincidence, given the circumstances. I'll delete my post...

Ah, I see, hopefully they'll patch it so you can edit text size or zoom in.

From,
Chris.

Only just noticed this.

Chris, LWP uses the same settings as the PS3 web browser, so if you open the main browser and up the text size and then open LWP you will now be able to read the news quite clearly.

Makes quite a difference.

Scaff

I wondered why I could read it fine on a 32" 1080p set and people on 60" were struggling.

I didn't want to make people feel old :scared::sly:
