I took the course in college as an "option", but no, I don't lifeguard. Always thought it'd be important to know how to save one's life should I ever come across such a situation, though.

my friend is a lifeguard. he's only 17, too

It would be an awesome summer job, you get to stay fit, outside all day, lots of hotties, and your getting paid for it. Too bad i didn't take my swimming lessons further!

Yes, kind of.

I used to surf a lot. I saved a lot of people who never experienced big waves before, and who would often get themselves into trouble. So I came to their rescue if ther was no lifeguard, or if the lifeguard could not get to them in time.

Since I saved so many people and was a regular to one particular beach, a lifeguard trained me to save people the correct way, which I was doing a pretty good job of all on my own without any training.

They made me take way too much swimming lessons, including rescue swimming.

I saw someone drown one time, but I thought to myself: Meh, eff it, he's way over there!
