Aside from the first car, the rest aren't bad. Those are Bosozoku (street tribe) cars. They're essentially rolling works of abstract art, the purpose of those mods is to be as outrageous and noticeable as possible, as a form of social rebellion against typically conformist Japanese society. None of them think the mods have any performance effect.

Doesn't Bosozoku mean 'speed tribe'? Googling seems to show the term more usually refers to biker gangs as well (maybe it used to, but doesn't anymore).
