Hemi is a market tool and I would say that you are buying a name. It's like Nike, sure its good stuff but the shoes are maybe worth 40 bucks rathers then 100 bucks.

I've been going back and forth between the Z06.org forum and viperalley.com.....

OMG do they have some harsh words for eachother..

It's hilarious..

Both people make EXTREMELY valid arguements though..

The z06 = best bang for the buck American money can buy..

p.s. This is all in relation to LG motorsports recent aquasition of a new z06 for tuning and dyno work..

The stock run made

441.9rwhp 412.3 rwtq

long tube headers, and racing lube all through with no air filter brought it up to

492.2 rwhp 472.3 rwtq

The long tube headers run at 1700....

Apparently some viper owners of RT/10's are putting down the Stock vette #'s with 150$ in mods.....

And no one is really impressed (on the viper forum) with the vettes torque at all....

All in all it's a HILARIOUS debate between about 50 middle aged men with too much $$ on their hands..

They're both great cars..
but I'll still side with the viper side of things

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

Good stuff you got Drifster! :O 👍

Competition is going to heat up again with the Vipers and Corvettes! Let people put them both on the track and watch them wrestle each other at every corners and straights!

At least with Nike, "Air" actually means there's air in there... the word "Hemi" is a brand name, and nothing else, sure they're good motors, but they're not "Hemi"... but then, that's a 1000 page flamefest on one site or another.

As opposed to guys like us, who're a bit less grizzled and who have a lot less $$ to put where our mouth is?  ... I'm sure as hell not going to defend any car to the death over such trivial matters as HP. Because it's track time that counts.

Not to mention with Nike you'll win races...considering nike means Victory!!....

Ps..

i'm hearing more and more on the limited production run of the new z06...Meaning it's aimed to be a collectors car.....

and is there ANY new info on the Viper Coupe?

Well, although the new Hemi's cylinder isnt all that hemispherical it still has the valves opposed to each other (like the original) rather then next to each other like the norm on pushrod 2valve per cylinder engines.

So it isnt just a badge it is actually different.

Driftster
Well then why didn't they call it The...Plymouth...Op Valve...or something..

Well because as you know Plymouth Op Valve wont sell cars like HEMI will.

I know..

I just had to say it.....

because I'm sick of every car having hemi all over it..

it's like the new M5...

why are there like 8 m5 badges on it?...We know what it is...

But "Hemi" sounds so much cooler than Opposed-Valve. Though "Dodge OV V8" doesn't sound as good as "Hemi V8", it'd be more accurate.

And how much more is the Viper? Doesn't seem like a good deal to me.
