In their respective countries they're pretty much equals at this point, it's just when you sell one in the other country the price rises and it's not as good a deal as the home grown car.

I think what 300zxfairman is trying to say is trying to get to is where are you going to utilize all that horsepower and not get into any trouble. It's great that you have a 1000hp Hennesey Viper or 700+HP Lingenfelter Vette or 800+HP Skyline or Supra etc. etc. etc. but for everyday use becomes the issue. On the highways the speed limit is 70 and there's traffic. You can't really enjoy your car when you want to, you're limited to what you can do(within the laws). If only we had the autobahn here we could just maybe go all out. But, since the highways are built cheap and maintenance is, :indiff: we will have to deal with these speed limits. Also, the owners of those cars can keep up with the responsibilties that comes along with buying them(maintenance, insurance, tickets, etc.).

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

I agree with you on that! :O 👍

But still, its a really cool Lingenfelter Corvette that you can take out once in a while and just blast it around for the adrenaline rush. :O

If you live in a populated state like California, those freeways are too crowded to even do top end races or even try pushing your car to 150+ MPH. :O

Hell if you live in Michigan the average driver on the freeway goes 90-95 most of the time...pretty much the only way to get pulled over on the freeway is to be doing triple digits while weaving around cars. In my other cars, I used to cruise at 110 and blow past cops, they wouldn't care.

All hail Lingenfelter cause that Vette sure does look sweet, laws yes!

I want to live there! A friend of mine got arrested in Kentucky one time for doing a 'claimed' 98mph. I was in the car, he didn't touch 90 👎

You have to remember the mentality of Michigan drivers...we can do 90+ with 4 inches of snow on the ground. If you live in Michigan you are brought up to drive fast. And most of the cars have fuzz busters in them, in fact I see more cars with em then with out em.

What kind of car guy are you? To much horsepower? What the hell?

And you don't ever need more then like a 100hp, but more is always better.
It's not just the hp. The stock C6 comes 400 hp 400 lb-ft V8 that gets from 0-60 in 4.2 secs it tops out at a stackering 186Mph what more to you want. Plus the average person couldn't afford insurence for it to!

You always want more, like I said what kind of car guy are you if you think its to much horsepower. There never is to much horsepower.

But if you could afford a Z06 + the Lingenfelter package, I highly doubt you would be concerned with the cost of insurence, gas, and speeding tickets.

Your right but the point I'm trying to make is the car is already fast stock. Why would you want to make the car faster come on 0-60 4.2 sec tops out at 186mph like thats not enough to make you sick.

Right I know its fast stock, I work on the Corvette program, trust me I know more about that car then I care to. But why not just make something fast. You do it because you can.

I admit if I had that car I would want that much hp too. It's the fact that you can't use it as an everyday car.Who would buy a $134,240(I did the math stock car + package price) just to race it.

I think you don't really grasp how much money a lot of people have. It's absolutly staggering, really.
Imagine playing GT4 starting with full cash gameshark savegame. Would you snap up every single black LMP every time they came along? Hell yeah, just because they're rare. 6 million credits is nothing from 9 billion, or whatever the maximum is. Know how much Bill Gates is worth? 90 freaking billion. The money is out there for the throwing.
They're only making 25 of these cars. At least one person is going to end up with two.

Hiya! :D: O  Meow! (='.'=)

You bring out some good points 300zxfairman! :O You could see how people with expensive cars don't even drive the car that much. Even if they do have money for it, they simply don't want that baby to get in an accident. :( Cars like that would probably take weeks to monthes to get things replaced or fixed.

I don't know if anyone in here really sat in a 700+ HP car before. :odd: How practical is it? :odd: I have gotten into an APU supra that ran a little over 600HP before. All I got to say that accelerates really fast and would require you to slam on the brakes really hard if something goes wrong with traffic. :ouch: :O

I've sat in a 700+ El Camino while it was running, and took a ride in a couple 600 HP cars (cobra's/supra's/nova's)..............

I could see myself using a 600+ car every other day...if Fuel wasn't an issue......

The smile I got on my face lasted for a good week after riding in each car, I don't think I'd EVER get tired of it.

It's not always the cars performance that brings you a smile, it's knowing you own a car thats one of only 25 in the world, and that should you want to show off in front of a Ferrari owner, you can. I look at cars similar to art, only cars have more function obviousely, you don't always make the most sensible cost effective choice. This can be down to looks a lot of the time, rareiy, and overall image. People will often buy a car based on these things. Thats why theres so many People in Ferrari's, yeah they're great cars but if it was just the performance, you can get more for less.

It's similar with art, you can get a picture that in many ways looks better than a Lowry, but the Lowry pic has thecredibility, the image ect. If you have a nice pic by a nobody in you fvront room, people go, oh thats nice. If you have a Lowry pic, people go, wow is that a Lowry. It's the same with cars, if you have a lesser known car on your drive, regardless of how fast it is, most people will just say, thats nice, or thats cool. If you have a Ferrari on your drive, people go wow, look at what you've got. I tihnk in the US Lingenfalter has a good rep, theres none over here, but also in the US the Corvette has a good rep. So if you get hold of a Vette thats a special spec and rare, like say one of only 25 and done by a company like Lingenfelter, people will respect that.

I'd take the more subtle lines of a new Z06 over that any day.

The hood is silly, the body work doesn't look right at all, and the mufflers just aren't my thing.

I like the more stock looking LPE cars, where it's just a Vette til you see it running 9's at the drag strip.

For the money, I'd get a Z06 and an Elise...or maybe a new 325i for my girlfriend instead of the Elise.

Everybody has there opinion and and views things different. The corvette is on of my favorite cars.Would I like to have one? Yes but with school part time job I have barely enough money to drive my car everyday with gas prices going up.Do you know how many kids had to stop driveing to school because of the gas price? Almost 1/3 of our school student parking lot is empty. And we have big lot like over 300+ parking spaces.

Thats really bad for students. :guilty: How much is the cost of gas over there? :odd: Carpool should be the best response for the gas prices. 👍

Well, you can always swap the internals to lower the compression.

I just think that people haven't developed shorter pistons and/or rods for the LS2/LS7. Is the increased displacement coming from additional stoke, bore, or both?

A little late, but if I recall correctly they did both, at least for the z06

Well, Chevy named the Gen 2 small block LT1 after the high-po LT-1 (note dash) of the 70's. When the Gen 3 redesign came along, I guess they just moved backwards through the alphabet because LU doesn't have much of a ring to it. The "LS" prefix also has some roots in option packges from the musclecar era.

LS1 = RPO code

RPO = Regular Production order

and yeah..the old school LS
was the code 1970 Ram Air IV 400 that was an option on the Trans Am and GTO

There are LU engines, the engine in my truck is an LU3.

It's because the badge Hemi is worth more than the Engine...And the badge costs alot to make....

I don't know..I'm too tired to look it up.
