This album is the best LP ever.

Meteroa and Hybrid Theroy were fantastic, but you really had to be in a certain mood to appreaciate the very similar sound every...single song threw out. I just can't put into words how similar each song was. No progress.

Now what we have is an LP album that appeals to many different tastes. Some of it's quite poppy, some of it is emotional, bit of techno and rap in there too. Contray to what alot of people are saying, there are songs in there that are unmistakely old-school Linkin Park, such as (IMO) "What I've done", "Given Up" and "No More Sorrow".

Anyone who can't appreaciate the amazing new sounds and epicness of this album probably needs to stop listerning to their small CD collection consisting entirely of LP albums, and branch out to some new sounds.
Me? I'm currently listening to Queens of the Stone Age, Kings of Leon, Coldplay, Feeder, Slipknot, Foo Fighters, Wolfmother, Limp Biscuit, Muse, My Chemical Romance, The Killers, Kasabian and Oasis......just to name a few :dunce: . A collection of bands with very different sounds and messages......rather then the one-track mind of previous LP albums

I'm sorry that I don't like angry people screaming ***** this and that, to me that isn't even music.

and it sounds like you dont like trying to listen to it

 Right...

See all those in red.. I listen to them. And guess what, still think this Linkin Park album sucks. So next time you get on teh offensive about your opinion, try to be a little more cool headed.

CCX

I bought the CD and tried to listen since I liked the other ones, I just don't want to hear all screaming and swearing all the time. I personally think their new album is garbage and I've already sold it to a second hand music shop.

But why would I keep trying to like something that I don't find any good?

*shrugs* Good for you young man 👍

Screaming and swearing? I'm pretty sure there was a fair bit of screaming in all LP albums to date. In fact when HT came out back in the day, LP was compared in sound to Limp Biscuit! I don't know if I totally agree with that, but I can see how they'd come to such conclusions.
As for swearing.....everybody does it, including you no dought. Don't think they're directing it at you though, because they arn't ;)

My biggest issue with Linkin Park is the fact that they take themselves so god damn seriously. They just show no humor whatsoever.

So are you saying that in an ideal world, a world where there was nothing to sway your perception of a band except for the sound of their music, that you may like Linkin Park?

It's a totally understandable issue where public image is concerned.

I don't mind one or two of their tracks - i just hate seing their videos. Once you build up a perception of them from seing them in their videos, it's hard for that 'image' in your mind not to surface when you hear their songs on the radio. All that childish angst would also get too much if i had to sit through an albums worth.

Regardless of the new sound this album has been produced, the band and the album itself are still terrific pieces. Being a rather stringent critic of everything musical, I can definitely say however that this album has it's flaws. A few things I'd like to cover however are the statements people have made about their new style. The first being their politically focused lyrics. In my opinion, more bands should be applying their ideas and emotions relating to the current state of the world and politics; to actually stand up and express their opinion on the world and it's people (think What I've Done, No More Sorrow). The reason I enjoy the politically-focused lyrics are because it's something different and since radio and other music programs rarely present any music of such, it's good that a relatively mainstream band have taken an anti-political voice to the centre-stage.

Next, as Joey D has stated, is the increased frequency and aggression of screaming. To put it frankly, Chester Bennington has actually implemented such aggressiveness to his singing for the good; throwing in more emotion to create a better picture than ever before (If you had watched the Live Earth Japan concert, you would have noticed that Chester sung songs from their previous album with so much more power in doing so). This is said as to unlike the many 'screamo/emo' bands that plague the world today; their often useless screaming providing no sense of amusement whatsoever. (By the way, you should feel a little better knowing that they dropped the 'QWERTY' song from Minutes To Midnight, that was extremely aggressive).

Finally, I want to explain my opinion on their new sound. I will admit that I miss their original 'Hybrid Theory' and 'Meteora'; 'In The End', 'Crawling', 'Somewhere I Belong', 'Numb' and 'Pushing Me Away' were without a doubt some of the greatest songs ever composed. But what you have to take into account is the hell they have taken over their 'nu-metal' sound which, for some reason, is looked down upon (possibly because Limp Bizkit put the nail in it's coffin). In reply, and to amend the fact that their music got increasingly 'repetitive' they now bring you this new, and undoubtedly distinct music from which they have crafted using their finest skills.

In a nutshell, their new music is good, but their 'old' music was better, possibly some of the greatest music ever composed, but it's the new direction they are heading and you've got to admit that it would be a miracle for any band and/or artist to continue and improve upon their original style of music and expect to benefit.

I like Linkin Park as a "radio band", but to constantly listen to their album is like persuading yourself to commit suicide. All of their songs are the same. "My SCARS! BLEED! PUT ME OUT OF MY MISERY!" etc. All of their songs focus on achieving non-existence or escape. It's really annoying. The only exception might be "Hands Held High" about soldiers and bombs. It still is far from great, however.

Linkin Park's "sound" is also incredibly limited. I can predict how every song sounds just by knowing the artist. Every band will say, "oh, we have a new sound for this album." That's called hyping their product. They just want to sell records. The guitars are the same, the singer guy is the same with his wailing, and the MC guy got some lessons from Jay-Z on how to sound like every other commercial rapper. Their DJ is terrible. He's been spinning the same vinyl and producing the same rhythms and tracks since day 1.

I'm glad I didn't buy the album. It's just so mediocre. I'd rather listen to Optimus Rhyme.
