Hello folks,

The question is quite simple, I've got a internet setup with a Linksys WRT400N as my main router, it is awesomely powerful and sends the signal over walls, ceilings and many things. However, I've got a new computer on the farthest room of the house and unfortunately, the wireless signal gets there very poorly.

The basic idea was to get my new router ( WRT120N ) to work as a wireless repeater, since it has a better antenna than the notebook and would in fact be able to repeat the signal throughout the room and connect the new PC via LAN port.

After receiving the router a few hours ago, I've realized it actually doesn't support AP mode, so it can't be used as a repeater.
I can't cable both routers either because that would require me to cable almost the entire house, a serious effort which I would like to avoid.

I've tried ddwrt custom firmware which would give me the desired functionality, and they don't support this specific model of router.

So... can anyone point me out any custom firmware that would make my router work as an wireless repeater?

Also, is it safe to install these custom firmwares from the warranty standpoint? I mean, would it rule my warranty?

Thanks in advance. ;)

Just get a Wifi repeater.

Signal is weak cause it has to go through too many walls.

Or move the router to a more open area.

From what I'm seeing, there is no dd-wrt firmware for it and it can't function as a repeater.

Yeah... looks like I'll have to get a wireless repeater, the new router was just money threw out of the window then... :ouch:

Anyway, thanks for the help lads. ;)
