Is there a list somewhere that shows which cars in the game don't have ABS? I saw an old TopGear episode where the Veyron and the Mclaren F1 raced against eachother which reminded me that the Mclaren does not have ABS. I like to know which cars don't have it so I can use that if I want to test them how they are in reality. So does anybody know if there is a list that shows it. I've searched on google and this forum but can't find it.

This would be helpful. Or, what year did road cars HAVE to include ABS?

They never had to. A lot of cars still don't come with it standard. Most supercars that are newer than the 90's will have it i believe though, though it appeared on cars in the 70's. You can pretty much figure out which cars would proably have it though.

Wow, you got nothing right in that post..... amazing! :dunce:

I think it depends on the car & year. I don't think there's any set year they started coming with it standard, applicable to all cars.

ABS was invented LONG ago. (For airplanes I think?) But did not come on commercial cars until much much later.

Also, I do know the TYPE of brakes (inside or outside?) was changed at some point in the past.
Drum brakes & disc brakes... And that was part of the cause of the horrific 1955 Le Mans disaster.

But I believe ABS was invented before 1955. But it definitely wasn't standard in commercial road cars that long ago.

But it really depends.

In real life... I have known these cars from personal experience:

1989 Buick Century NO ABS
1991 Subaru Legacy WITH ABS
1995 Toyota Celica WITH ABS
2000 Mazda Miata NO ABS

So I'm thinking the answer is... depends and varies... And it would be very difficult to just come up with a list.

From wikipedia:

"ABS systems are required on all new passenger cars sold in the EU since 2007 and in the USA since 2010"

How many cars in GT5 are 2010 year models?

If I recall right, Vipers didn't have ABS as standard.

Unfortunately, you'll have to search to find on which cars ABS is standard or optional... Though on many cars with ABS, you can disable it completely by pulling a fuse. Not wise on newer cars with EBD, as this also disables the electronic brake proportioning.

I dunno about that law in the EU, or rather when TVR last released a car...but TVR never includes aids such as ABS on any of their cars...so you can mark off any TVRs in the game as not having ABS even included as an option. GT5 claims you need to drive them in the game without ABS, because if you do the car will not handle properly.

Sadly, I didn't think of that. It's not that I'm lazy, it's just that I thought it would take a lot of time, but I don't buy cars too often. Sooo, perfect. :dopey: hahaha

Most of the newer race cars don't have ABS. Can't remember when the ABS was last used in any of the top motor sport classes.

I love doing this as well:D Usually keep ABS: 1 for cars which have them as standard IRL, but turn it off for others, and race cars:)

Just drive every car without ABS like I do.

Yeah, that's what I do. I run ABS 0 on all cars, without exception, including the Formula GT. Even if the real-life counterpart normally has it, I still don't have to use it, and I don't. Lists of which cars normally have and don't have ABS just helps some folks feel better about running ABS, which shouldn't matter. If a less skilled player needs ABS, they can run it without needing to justify it with excuses.

FIA GT3 spec cars apparently can have ABS and other electronic aiding so some of the newer race cars might have them too. I guess it partially depends on how close to the actual production car the racing cars are.

Sorry if this bump in unwelcomed, but I want ask:

aside from changing the brake balance when driving with no ABS, do you need to adjust the LSD brake setting as well? Or rather, is it a preference thing?

Does "passenger" cars mean family cars? From this I see that sports cars or exotics don't need ABS legally.

I find that using higher Decel LSD settings helps when running without ABS but as with all settings, it's definitely personal preference. That vast majority of my tunes with ABS use 5 as Decel so compared to that, 10 is high for me.
