I've read about people talking about Typical Opponents list which could be viewed before entering a race but does this list appear when you enter the race from the race menu or when you have entered the race but have to confirm your participation other than verifying settings in the menu?

I've noticed a tab named Race Requirements but that appears after entering into the race from the race menu! If you quit out of there to select any other car which could be closely matched to the opponent cars then it makes a difference to you win/loss ratio!

I've not seen any specific icon which displays the list of opponent cars & their HP's!

Preferably we would always drive a car that is under powered to the AI cars because we are much stronger in the braking department when compared to the AI's! So our late braking makes up for the deficient power in our car compared to theirs!

Every race has to be won but if we get to win it with stiff competition then the victory is much sweeter as compared to dominating the race with a very powerful car & racing on your own! In this case, knowing the Opponent cars & their HP could make the race much more fun & challenging!

You should see the "Typical Opponents" Icon right next to the "Race Requirements" Icon that you mention. It should be in between this "Requirements" Icon and the "Tire" Icon.

This "Typical Opponents" Icon was added during one of the earliest GT5 updates, so it should be viewable on your current game.

You can only view this list of potential AI cars before you enter a specific race, so you can't tell exactly what cars you will face, you can just get a general indication of the AI cars. The List shows about half of the AI cars that can show up in the actual race.

I've started to record this list of Typical Opponents cars which show up in each Race Series, and I've posted this list in my "A-Spec Points" thread here:

Its pretty slow going to list and find them all because I also adjust my cars to equal the game's cars so I can compute the PP values.

Unfortunately I can't see this button! I believe it is because I have not updated the game! Do I need to have an Internet connection for it to get updated or this is an option within the game to check for updates?

As far as I know, you need an internet connection to perform the upgrades. Perhaps someone else has another method?

Otherwise, can you take your PS3 to somewhere were there is an internet connection?
