I've been searching for other threads, but can't find anything on the threads that have to do with this real and my issue.

What settings should you use with this wheel? You can press a button on the wheel and change things, but i really don't know what they mean...I mean, i know the typical, but it seems like nothing changes...Any advice?

Thanks.

Hey I was racing you earlier..

Either you suck at driving or you are an idiot.. You couldn't keep it straight. You nearly ran me off the track a few times. If you expect me to race you with respect then I suggest you learn to race with respect. GTP is a place for clean and experienced drivers. If you can handle PP750 then go back to Standard.

------------
As for using the GT wheel. I race with it. I kept the setting the same. I changed a few buttons for mirrors and such, but other than that I kept them the same.

Umm, you didn't play me...I haven't played online yet, so relax...My name isn't lordoflordz online either...

So anyway, back to the question...

I am sure I raced a guy that had your exact name. I apologize for the acusation.

Go into the options page at the bottom of your GT5:P menu screen. Scroll down to wheel settings. Select Logitech Driving Force GT Wheel settings and assign the various buttons with the functions of your choice.

Better get that game in the mail soon Chad.

All of the buttons on the GT Wheel are assignable. Are you referring to the Multi-Function Button and wheel? It works like this.

1. During a race/timetrial, press the center button off the multifunction button to activate - a menu pops up just above the gear indiactor of your dashboard.

2. Use the Up/Down (+/-) button on the left side (not the Dpad) of the wheel to select the function you want to change.

3. Rotate the red dial to set the function the way you need it for your driving conditions.

4. YOu can leave the menu active throughout the race, or press the Multifunction Button again to turn the menu off.

I just recently started using a DF GT too and I have the same questions. All that comes with the wheel is a pamphlet describing how to connect the plugs etc - nothing about fine tuning the settings. I *think* that other than the button assignments there is little else that can be changed.
When I go to options into the settings area, the skill level setting has the DF GT and DF PRO images disabled/greyed out. I take this to mean that you can't select between the Amateur, Professional and Simulation values. The combo box can be changed but like LordofLordz I can't detect any real difference. Could just be my inexperience with a wheel though so some clarification wold be good.
In the Power Steering option, the DF GT image is enabled/normal and I did notice a difference between the settings. I prefer the power steering off as I find the car a bit more twitchy when it is on.
Other than the force feedback setting I really couldn't notice any other settings regarding the performance of the wheel. I sent an email to Logitech requesting advice on settings and tips on using the wheel in GT5 and they advised that the wheel is self configuring and I should contact PD regarding settings for GT5. Sure Wilbur, we all know how easy it is to contact PD lol.
So perhaps if there are any wheel gurus here they might be kind enough to let us know if the skill setting really is applicable and also provide some tips on using the wheel and how we noobs can get the best out of it ie get our lap times back to some semblance of controller times.

Thank you OzOldTimer for explaining things more detailed.

That is pretty much exactly my problem. I did everything all of you have mentioned. While i'm in the game and press the center button to change the TCS and all that other crap, it does nothing. I think the last two are front and back breaking. I put it all the way to 10, then i tried it on 0 and i felt no change...It seems like those functions do nothing.

Basically, all i'm asking for is a good typical setup to use with this wheel. I'm happy with it now, i just want to know if their is anything else.

I would prefer it as real as possible. As of now, i'm averaging 7:03 online in the suzuka 600pp with all the stock settings on the wheel...

Here's how I use the multifunction button to make settings on the fly (yes they do something). In the standing start races, before the start I have the "TC" selected. I usually will race with TC off. but for the standing start, it will give you a good jump if you dial up some TC...maybe 1 or 2, to get moving fast without wheel spin. Then before the first corner ( or maybe right after the first corner depending on your driving skills ), I dial TC back to 0 and leave it there for the rest of the race. Although it can be useful if you come into a slow switchback, like casio at Suzuka or the one on Fuji.
Another way to use the multifunction button is if you are driving a 4wd car. You can select the percentage of torque split between the front and rear wheels. This works really well with the Nissan GTR. For instance, at HSR, as you come to the first corner, dial up a torque split of 50/50 for the corner. Then as you get to the staight, dial it back to 20/80 for top speed. It works great for the GTR to help cornering grip, then increase straightaway speed. (Let's keep this between us...it gives you a big advantage online:tup:) But not all 4wd cars are adjustable. On all cars, ASM can be adjusted on the fly. This can be useful to turn on if you have a corner that you have problems with, then turn off after the corner.
I admit, it takes a little practice to be able to handle another control as you are racing. But it is effective.
