Hello all,
Does anyone know if the new Logitech Driving Force Pro steering wheel for GT4's shifter will be on the left for PAL countries? It would be a nice touch. Also does the wheel have paddle shifters? Because I can't see any on it.

Good question. It seems to make logical sense to make the wheel that way, but I really don't know. Sometimes logic is not even considered when a buck is needed to be made. I'll keep eye my out for it, and I'll let you know.
 
I'd be extremely surprised if it appeared on the left for right hand drive markets, simply from a cost aspect for limited markets - and before you take a shot at me, I live in a right hand drive market.

It's not so bad - you get used to it pretty quickly.

I thought I heard somewhere that it had paddles - I know they're not visible, but they're not visible on the GT-Force either, just mounted behind the spokes of the wheel.
 
i think it might be detachable from the pics ive seen, otherwise they would have made it a single shell.

but from the pics it seems to seperate and it even has its own cable :)
 
From my knowledge of when I used it at the PS Expo in August, the wheel had the stick shift on the right and I beleive it will stay that way, because thats how it was originally designed, the paddle shifts are on the wheel, and they are much better than the current wheel fo GT.

As with the current wheel there are only about three cables connections, this has about 4 from what I saw, One for power supply, one for the USB connection to the PS2, one for the pedals to the wheel and one for the stick shift, so this wheel is pretty wheel crafted and why not, because its for Gran turismo 4.
 
Don't the Japanese drive on the left hand side/drive right hand drive cars too?

Surely they'd want the 'stick to be on left aswell.

Not too keen on paddle shifts :( as on the logictec driving force

ahhhh you are absolutly correct :banghead:

I guess the shifter WILL stay on the right side..

but from the pic it totally looks like it can be detached :P

oh well..

most of us will use paddle shifter anyways :)

lets hope its under $100.

I thought it was $149.99 as some website have said before.

but On recent STUFF megazine, they said it would be $79.

And thinking about the MOMO wheel for PC. it COULD be under $100 :)
 
For those of you who have used to this wheel before, whats it like to use the shifter? Does it work correctly if you down/upshift around turns? I had an old shifter/wheel combo for the computer, and it worked like crap, only for that reason.
 
The shifter from when I tried it was quite good, although i played like crap, it is quite precise and works well with the newer cars in the game. You can perdetermine what gears and the its very smotth to operate, the only dislike is the shape, the sphere shaped size is ok, but not great. ;)
 
The McLaren F1's gearstick was on the left despite a centrally mounted driving position as do most single seat race cars. Dont ask me why tradition I suppose?
 
Hmm, interesting thought: The shifter on the setup is just a sphere. No mechanics or electrionics on it. So, maybe, you can put a new one on. It would be an easy mod to do, in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if you could just unscrew the stock knob and put a real one on, like on a real car.

Oh ya its going to be GT3 compatible but the wheel will lock itself to only 100 degree each way.

Only games that support 900 degree rotation will let the wheel go all the way.

/me hopes many other games will support 900 degree rotaion in the future ! (Driver 3 !):cool:
 
Does anyone have any idea when the DFP will be released in Hong Kong? I haven't had time to go and look yet.

Hmm but in that PD? pic of that bloke playing GT4 on the DFP, its a bit odd him having the stick on the right when the Japanese (Who drive on left I think, right hand drive). Unless of course it was an early version of the DFP, or just personal preference.
 
It doesnt look like is can be changed on the image.
I dont know if it matters because is goes sequential so you dont have to think about gear shifting patterns.
