Logitech Driving Force question

I've had this Logitech since back in the PS2/GT4 times. Dug it out
and connected it to the PS3 unit to hopefully use with GT5. It's
almost got a mind of it's own with steering and it will hit full on
brakes when turning left/left center. Seems like a person had a
shot at calibrating the unit in GT4 with PS2. Is there not a way
or capability to do the calibration with PS3 and GT5? Seems like
I recall reading about resetting the contacts with the unit to insure
it would function correctly due to shipping and bumps in general.

** Not using the foot controls, paddle left=brakes, paddle right=accelerator.

I honestly sold my controllers and PS2 when I bought my PS3:banghead:
Now I believe your controller will not be compatible with the PS3. I say this for two reasons. 1: Like 95% of the PS3s in the US market only a few were PS2 compatible. 2: I have tried to use my Driving Force GT (made specifically for GT5) on older PS3 Racing games and it's just not right. I don't have your problems but the steering will be super sensitive.
As time has progressed and games have become more advanced, the programing and what not have changed. I'm sorry to say it but it might be time to upgrade your wheel setup.

Yes sir, I was sure curious about the compatability. It's a wheel I had boxed
up and figured what the hay, give it a try... I sure appreciate the help and
you're all of that right about it being super sensitive.

I had one of those and it worked 100% perfectly for GT5 for several months until it finally died on me beyond my ablity to repair it(while playing rFactor, problem was with the power connection). It sounds more like problems with the wheel. I remember my paddles were very touchy and wouldn't shift or would double-shift or shift one way and then back on occasion, sometimes seeming to be related to turning the wheel and sometimes not. This happened across all games intermittently from the time I first got the wheel handed down to me when GT3 was fairly new so it should not be anything GT5 related, but might explain your issue if you are using them to replace the pedals. I don't know if it would be possible to clean them out to try to fix it or not.

The Sim Racing Hardware forum would probably be the best place on this site to ask questions of this sort, some pretty knowledgeable people in there.
 
Yeah I was using the paddles instead of the pedals for accelerator
and brake. The accelerator, (Rt paddle), functions flawlessly, The
brake, (Lft paddle), is a little hesitant but, it can be compensated
for. I did try the pedals and it actually made the braking worse by
way of steering. I figured it was worth trying..? Also, Opened it up
to see if anything was knock me over obvious and the only thing I
did notice out of sorts was the "limiter" switch for far left and far
right turn limit was up out of a small slot. Reset that and checked
for cable binding, etc with the top cover off. All looked or seemed
to be "normal", ya' know. Sooooo, she's back in the box. I sure
will check out the link and I can't thank you good folks enough for
the help.
