Hi,

I am thinking of buying a steering wheel that I will mainly use for GT5 and F1 2010 and F1 2011 when it comes out. The two that I live are the Logitech G25 and the Logitech G27.

Please can you help me.

Thanks

I'm no expert, but the G27 is an upgrade from the G25.
If you are gonna buy one new and the prices are the same (actually in Sweden G25 is more) just go for the G27.
If you can find a used one that is in good condition even better I think.

G25 is discontinued. I suggest you to wait for the new Fanatec products (they will be pricey, and tardy). Otherwise (if you have not any other wheel, and if you have a more modest budget) the g27, although is not fully supported by GT5, is a great choice (also the Fanatec current ones) overall if you find a nice price.

Good luck.

They are essentially the same wheel. The G25 is noisier than the G27 because it's gear driven. It's more of a raw feeling and some report it responds a bit quicker. The g27 is belt driven and smoother feeling. Think of it as drive by-cable (actual cable activates throttle input) on your real car vs. drive by-wire (throttle input controlled by computer).

The G25 shifter also offers sequential and h-gate mode. The G27 only offers h-gate. G27 has some nice xmas lights on the wheel as well.

Those Xmas lights make good distractions
Well you shouldn't even bother or attempt to look at the RPM on the steering wheel...maybe if you have all the HUD off I guess...

G27 is not belt driven.

A friend mine told me he refunded his g27 since it was basically an improved g25. He finally bought a Fanatec and he is quite pleased after solving some "minor" problems. I think there is a broad market to focus just in those relatively old wheels.

However there are people here more expert than me in the field...
